Damien had a great career spanning two clubs including playing in a premiership at each club but how is he remembered by the football public?
Bomber or Power?

I think it depends on where you live and who you follow. He grew up at the bombers and was part of their last powerhouse side. He moved to Port and helped add something extra to an already good side that couldn't get the job done in December.

Actually, he did play 75% of his footy at Essendon and was traded to Port as a 30-year-old cause Essendon started their 2 decades of shizen by mismanaging the salary cap and forcing the break up of that great side.

I agree with the Tiger supporter above. He's a Richmond coach and was an Essendon player.

Hardwick will be remembered as a Richmond coach more than an Essendon or Port Power player. Returning the decade after decade laughing stock that was Richmond to not only relevance but a premiership contending force, winning three flags in four years is simply outstanding. Richmond will find it very hard to replace him when the day comes he is no longer their coach.

he was a big name at the dons and just an important piece at port (he was ageing)

I loved him at the dons and couldn't believe we picked him up. A sliding doors moment........imagine if he was our coach now or clarkson stayed at port. oh well, just one more year of kennie

how did he help? Clearing out the christmas mail backlog?

I remember him as that guy that the Essendon board didn’t think was good enough to be their coach, and appointed Matthew Knights instead.
He wouldn't have gotten enough years to win it with us, let's be realistic.

1. Richmond. 297 games, 3 flags. 12+ years

<daylight>

2. Essendon. 163 games, 1 flag, 8 years.

3. Port Adelaide. 54 games, 1 flag, 3 years.

His time at Port makes for very fond memories for any Power fan as its our one and only premiership, but they really pale in comparison to the Bombers, which is dwarfed by Richmond

He is a Richmond man, no one remembers or cares who he played for...Just the same as Kevin Sheedy is an Essendon coach and an Essendon man.

Was just coming here to say the same thing. Coming into Sheedy territory.

As the people who saw him play die out, his coaching record will be what remains.

Poll needs a third option - Richmond

much like Kevin Sheedy & Essendon, though Sheedys past as a player for Richmond is frequently revered amongst supporters and hes often mentioned
in RFC best sides of all time in the BP

One day the sun will expand and consume the earth, killing everyone and everything. Hardwick will not be remembered.

bigfooty will live on and become the magna carta of footy, for alien civilisations in galaxies far far away

it is important we come to the right conclusion on this question now to ensure the peace and harmony of these galaxies
