Just Posturing there
Sos says not Interested & Agresta says they are and waiting on Butler to decide where he wants to be , As well as having a medical at 3 clubs
indicates there is interest there and as there should be for a quality premiership player and his only been dropped due to Baker , Stack , pickett , Bolton all coming on this year. Butler was fantastic in the VFL and had a great finals series and is definitely AFL quality player.

You will find that when the important trades are done this will also and its looking more like which club he wants to go to but it is a cheap trade to get him to his new club
SOS is very coy though, never goes public with anything.

In hindsight 64 for Lloyd was an absolute steal for you guys. Had a great season.
I'd say Butler is worth around that.
Lloyd (again in hindsight) was probably worth around 45 to 50.
I always thought Hardwick underrated Lloyd. Lloyd is a quality footballer just didn't seem to fit into Dimma's system.

I hope we keep Butler, he keeps the pressure on Castagna and Rioli and surely his career has a bit more in the tank.

Be very wary of taking role player types from Top teams (especially flag teams). They often look a lot better than they are when surrounded by good players and a well structured team.

Outside of that environment you often see them drop right back. Eg Sharod Wellingham, Chris Dawes.
Very good point however the flip side to that argument is that most teams are on board with forward pressure and locking the ball in their forwardline.
So if you haven’t got that type you can take your chances on a kid or state league player or grab a guy that’s done it at the top level and understands the role

Very happy to keep him and KMac.
Doubt Menadue survives another year with Naish, Stack, Egg coming through.

Maybe he should have prepped Agresta before walking in, Dont know what there is to be coy about its virtually a nothing trade
But if he pays #48 for betts thats not a good result
Yeah Agresta speaking in the media is a joke. Everyone knows SOS makes all the decisions. The Stocker video on draft night showed SOS as the alpha male in a room full of yes men.

Lloyd applies no pressure compaired to our other small forwards.
Good player but we valued the other guys more...obviously

Lloyd applies no pressure compaired to our other small forwards.

That is his biggest flaw, but he has more than made up for it with smart ball use, good hands, good leading patterns and spacing, accurate set shot etc. He was also dominant in the VFL for 2017 - 2018 and couldn't get a look in, it doesn't surprise me that he had a great season at WB.

Anyway, hard to criticize Hardwick's assessment in the end!

Really surprised there hasn’t been more noise about Butler. Didn’t have a great year but he’s as good a pressure forward going around. Kicked 30 goals in 2017.

Still pretty early and most of the talk has been on the big trades that aren’t close to going down. Will probably be more noise coming Tuesday but think Bulldogs, Saints, Blues and Demons should be looking hard at him.

Surprised the Doggies are not looking at him after the success that lloyd was

I wouldn't be accepting any 4th rounder for Butler. May not be best 22 but certainly isn't a low standard player. Happy to keep the likes of him + KMac for depth and to keep the playing 22 as honest as possible.

3rd rounder, and not an overly late one, is what I would want.

Happy to accept 2020 3rd rounder for we have points for MR Jr.

He's out of contract, has about 3 players ahead of him in his position, been mostly in the VFL, and doesn't particularly sound like your club desires to retain him or pay him to play VFL.

It won't be a 3rd.

Not really, he has maybe Rioli and Castagna in front of him? In a lot of ways he's probably been dropped because of Lynch coming in and we're playing one less small forward.

I wasn't overly impressed with Rioli's year. Bolton plays a bit of mid/half forward, so a bit of a different role. Baker has moved back. Stack plays anywhere. Aarts nowhere near it. Higgins could be out after his brain surgery for a while too. We have lots of quality small forwards but by no means do I consider a player like Butler to be 'not required' because he only managed 7 games this year.

VFL form was very solid. Keeps the playing 22 honest in that sense.

Young, lots of years and upside ahead of him.

Club has offered him a contract to stay.

Still want a 3rd rounder!

Cool. I'll let SOS and Agresta know your thoughts. You should receive a facsimile by Monday in response to your final offer.

We'll probably give him away for peanuts. I'm perfectly ok with not winning every trade, especially with our plethora of smalls. Would definitely get games at Carlton
