Big contract, more than I anticipated. Was probably expecting $16-$18m a season, not $21-$22m.

I'm not opposed to it, though. He's decent tackle. Not elite, but good and plays a position that's not easily replaceable so he's certainly worth keeping. Great pass blocker but not great in the run, at least Nix will be ok.

My only concern really is that both of his best seasons have come in contract years, then in between has been drops in form. Hopefully that's not a trend that continues.

Just quietly, I think our oline as a unit is pretty solid, and not old. A yr or 2 ago I thought it was rubbish - turns out it was just Russ not knowing how to handle the pocket in Paytons system.

Bolles, Powers and McGlinchy are solid without being excellent. Even wattenberg has been ok - Haven't missed Cush at all. Meinerz is the real beast on the line, though.

Felt like the past 2 games we've gone backwards a bit offensively. 1 & 2 routes being run downfield, everything else underneath. Hardly any chance of success with those concepts. Nix has got the happy feet and not liking the pocket anymore, seems the composure has gone a bit - Whether that's the playcalling, himself, or both, it reminds me of the first month more than the subsequent 2. Nix has also stopped running completely just about, makes me wonder if his rib/side injury from a few weeks ago is worse than previously mentioned as it's basically since that moment he's gone backward.

Also not a fan of force-feeding Sutton - he's not that good a route runner that you can bank on him having separation and be on time with routes. He's not a difference maker you just have to get the ball to.

Amazing to see the D is still as stout as ever, though. Even when put under stress by our offense.

After watching the first qtr I thought there's no way we're winning this one... The D is special!

I agree the force feeding of Sutton is too much. On one of the INTs Sutton was surrounded by 3 defenders and shouldn't have attempted to pass the ball in there. Vele only got 1 look... Mims caught all 4 balls passed his way... Sutton, 3 from 9 targets, and many of those were double and triple team. Means there should be other receiver options elsewhere in man on man at the very least.

I hope we target a stud RB in the draft/free agency/trade this offseason. I hate the whole RB by committee thing.

Boy o boy, were we lucky that Taylor dropped the ball at the 1yd line! Colts didn't score again from that point.

Just to emphasise this point, 5 of Nix' 11 ints have come targeting Sutton. As you mentioned, one was while being triple teamed - and I don't think that's the only time, it's happened on a few.

I get we aren't particularly blessed with pass catchers so leaning on your best is understandable, but he's just not that guy.

Really have no receivers who can get separation downfield. The talk was about Nix's air yards but we have no TE or WR capable of separating beyond 10 yards. Don't know if it's play calling or the receivers, my hunch is it's the receivers.

Also, we suck at zone D.

That game yesterday was nuts - we just didnt want to win it bad enough but then we get the moments where we do and its crazy

Bo Nix is the real deal and we'll be fine with him. but he's a rookie and the love/hate swings need to stop.
Give the kid some time FFS.,,, and the team for that matter.

Wev'e well exceeded expectations so far this year, will have the first over .500 season in a decade almost, the team is young mostly and we've done in spite fo Russell Wilsons 70million dollar baggage.

We'll be ok.

I hated the play calling in OT and for majority of the game.

In OT each drive was exactly the same and was a reflection on how most of the game was called.

Run up the middle - short gain
Quick screen - blown up for a loss
3rd and long
punt

He was put into 3rd and long situations by bland, predictable play calling. Granted on both 3rd downs Nix had a chance for completions and missed - 1 was poor, a regulation 10 yard crosser he just overthrew. His footwork needs work - basically just needs to stand in the pocket better as for no reason as he was about to throw he just started running to his right when he was throwing to his left - but he was put into a higher difficulty situation thanks to his HC/OC calling horrible plays.

Sometimes it feels like for most of the game Payton plays with the kids playbook filled with basic runs, screens and 2 receiver routes. Then out of nowhere the actual playbook comes out and we go right down field.

I get that he probably wants to be somewhat conservative with a rookie QB, but I feel like he's actually holding Bo back rather than helping him with that.

Couldn't agree more, Payton completely lost his balls after the Mims TD, should have gone for 2 there to win it and to top that mistake off went super safe in overtime. The coach gagged. Shameful.

Regardless of what happens next week, I'm proud of this team. Think I predicted a 9-8 season at the start of the year, and to be honest that was hopeful!
If we get the win against the Chiefs backups next week we'll be 10-7 and I would never have thought we'd get to that with a rookie QB under centre. Watched the Bengals game with 2 Bengals mates who'd not seen Bo play before, and they couldn't believe how poised he is... I was pointing out that it's not all the time though, showing them times when pressured from the side or behind, and how he should be stepping up into the pocket for a pass, rather than trying to duck around/spin out of the pocket putting more pressure on himself.
Once he finds that confidence he'll be much better off.
Would love a stud RB, a beast TE and a Garrett Wilson type WR in the mix too.
Really hope we can keep much of this D together.
I think we'll win through next week, but then get blown up by the Bills in week 1 of the playoffs.
I'll still be happy with what we've achieved. Been a much better season watching our team than in recent years.

Also I want to praise Mims. Maybe Payton deserves credit for his development and getting him into the gameplan more, but damn he's turned my opinion of him.

That deep TD was a thing of beauty - which I've seen apparently was the longest air travelled pass in the league this yr at 67 yds, so queries of Bo's arm strength can gtfo - and then that game tying TD was just elite and I didn't think he had that kind of catch in him.
