Heavy Rain is the better than Detroit imo

Haven't played Two Souls though


Until Dawn is another to try, has a couple of well known actors in it too

I loved Detroit, then bought Heavy Rain on the back of it but put it down after an hour, just really didn't enjoy it in the same way. Might pick it back up again at some point and push through it. I do like the fact that choices have strong consequenses etc. We'll see.

You mustn't have even got past the house? Or at least still been in the shopping centre?

It is a slower burn. At least give it an hour after the shopping centre for the game to come alive. If you don't like it after that it's not for you.

Yeah, think I put it down after the shopping centre part. Dunno how to explain, but just the whole (from what I remember) perfect Hollywood fatherhood/family dynamic early on thing just didn't appeal. Thought the whole game was going to follow through on that sort of stuff but reading up on the story a bit further it does sound a lot better. Will definitely give it another go at some point.

Yeah, no, it's definitely not going down that line. ;)

I reckon give it another go, the first part can be a slog.

Completely agree, story picks up quickly around chapter 4 and 5.

Have you played Beyond: Two Souls? I’m. Moving into that after tidying up for the Heavy Rain platinum.

Yeah, I have. Two Souls is mediocre AF in my opinion, but it's been a while and don't remember all the details. From memory, it has some interesting story beats but it is mostly pretty bland and predictable - which is obviously a problem for a game that hangs its hat on the narrative. You take that out of Heavy Rain or Detroit and they are nowhere near as compelling. They tried to move away from QTEs and towards action a little bit more with the gameplay as well and they just clearly didn't really have the team on board to pull it off. The non-QTE elements were pretty clunky.

Ok cool, I’ll still give a go based on the other 2.

I really like the way they did QTE’s, especially in Detroit.

Yeah I'd say it's worth a go if you like the format. It's clearly the worst game of the three (and worst of the four if you go back to Fahrenheit/Indigo Prophecy - but that one has aged horribly) but I had a decent time with it.
