I had a realisation today that if for some reason, even by mistake your Google accounts were frozen or you were banned. You would lose all your data. All of it. Same goes for Facebook. Which is why especially for Legal reasons Email with cc or fwd to another account is the wtg.

Or if Google was compromised. I've read recently about people being locked out of their accounts.

It prompted me to set up a Microsoft Outlook email account and I'm now going to send anything important to the other account and print any important documents.

It's kind of interesting that we rely on our data but are happy to leave it in the hands of a single organisation who effectively own and control all our data.

splitting stuff over different cloud providers is probably just going to make stuff more complicated and make you more likely to have your data compromised

Probably better off either self-hosting or backing stuff up locally
