Is Bernie Vince right to play next week (round 13 against Melbourne). As far as i was aware he was supsended for one match (to be served in the SANFL) but was injured in training in the same week. I believe he has to serve that match suspension before he can return to the AFL. So i guess my question is, did he play in the SANFL last week and if so is he a certainty to play for the Crows next week?

Thanks guys.

as it's the split round bernie may play this week in the 2's then come in for the next weeks game I think. May be wrong though.

Vince played in the SANFL reserves on the weekend so his suspension has been served, should play again this weekend for some match practise, so should regain his spot in the Crows side by next week.

Not really a DT/SC question, but much better to post it here than clutter the board up with another thread. James Craig, how is he looking? Searching for 'Craig' on your board is obviously not very helpful, but I'd be very interested in how you think he's developing. Was the u18 AA ruckman, but strong suggestions he would play as a key position utility somewhere else on the field. Does he have a future?
Any thoughts? Maybe this wasn't the best place to post it after all.

The only problem with this is that the team he plays for in the SANFL (Woodville West Torrens?) has a bye this week.

How about you do some proper research before correcting Adelaide posters on the Adelaide board, hey buddy?.

WWT had the bye last weekend and hence Vince played Ressies for South Adelaide, hence serving his one match suspension.

WWT has West Adelaide this week, with Vince being named on the wing:thumbsu:

Seriously considered Dougie at the beginning of the season, and a couple of times since as a trade target, had a feeling he might do what he's done, but didn't have the balls to pull the trigger on it:eek:

Yeah Dougie has been a bit like Dale Thomas this year in regards to 'breaking out'. Alot of people thought it too risky to pick either of them seeing as they hadn't delivered on so much promise in the past but they have suprised many so far.

I would probably suggest the reason he is performing so well is because he is playing much more midfield time than before. Vince's injury/suspension triggered all this good form, he has scored 108, 68, 126, 129, 119, 115 since RD7 and Vince has only played in 2 of those games.

Hopefully Craigy continues to play him in the midfield because he is one of those B-grade players that has the potential to become A-grade and this won't happen if he returns to the forward flank. He is a massive possession acculamator, the only things he lacks is classy disposal and a huge tank. If he can improve these things over the next 1-2 years then I think he can join the elite group of midfielders in the comp:thumbsu:.

If he is classified as a FWD/MID next year then he has to come under some serious consideration. I can't justify picking him next year if he is named as a midfielder only though. I don't like to play games in my midfield and unless I think Dougie is a certainty to average 105+ then I don't think he is worth getting instead of guys like Barlow/Pendlebury/Stanton/Boyd etc. who only cost that little bit extra and are proven performers.

Hey guys, I was wondering if you think Phil Davis will playing next week?

He'd come back through the SANFL most likely...

I would say once he gets a couple of SANFL games under his belt he'll be an automatic inclusion. He was playing some good footy before he got injured and the courage he showed in the Sandilands incident would only cement his position even more.

is henderson's position on the team secure?

No it's not. I'd have Davis in for him once he regains fitness.

What's your feel for Tippet at the moment, do you think he's starting to return to some form?

Tippett's a really tough one. To say he's been a major disapointment this year would be a massive understatement. He was extremely ominous form in the preseason, with two 5 goal and 100+ DT point games, then had about 6 or 7 shots against Freo in round 1, but only converted 1. Has really struggled to find form since then, had a good 3 game period a few weeks back where he kicked 10 or 11 goals, but then dropped off.

Over the past 6 weeks he's started to regain his presense taking a number of massive pack grabs. Despite his poor season, he's still 3rd or 4th for contested grabs in the AFL, just needs to start converting more often. Was the dominant big man on the ground against Hawthorn, according to the coaches, was 3rd best on ground with 6 "coaches" votes, behind both Hodge and Rioli who both received 9 each(next best was Mitchell with 3 votes). However the big test will be whether he can sustain this performance.

Certainly a risk if you are looking to pick him up, I'd probably look elsewhere, if he's in your side, might be worth saving a trade for another week. Either way, I'd probably wait a week, see how he goes against Melbourne, if he truely hits form, he could be a great player to have for the second half of the year.

What I'm going to try with Tippett is a bit of a horses for courses policy. I've got Tippett, P. Davis and Fyfe as my final three forwards. Fyfe has been a pretty consistent 70-90 point option in the seventh slot. But whenever the Crows are playing a mediocre defence, I'll give Tippett the nod. So far the plan is one for one.

What do you guys think Schmidt's chances are of a recall after a couple of solid performances in the SANFL? Copping a zero, if he doesn't come in. Cheers.

Hey Crows fans, apologies for asking an unrelated random question, but Im really curious and didnt want to make a new thread or ruin another existing thread... so thought this is the best place.

Anywayz, may sound silly but was that Fitzy guy actually ever a Crows listed player? I think I may have heard somewhere he played some games or something?
I dont quite remember or just prob didnt notice (being an ignorant Perthian :p)
I thought his claim to fame was just from some Big Brother gig...

Again sorry for the stupid question, dont even know his full name to google it!

Cheers Adelaidians.. :)

Was drafted to Sydney as a talented 200cm FF, played a few games but was plagued with injury IIRC. Was then traded back to Adelaide as one of Gary Ayres' many failed attempts to find us that dominant KPF. Played a few games before having to retire due to a knee injury, I'm told he was pretty talented before injuries ruined his career.

Ryan Fitzgerald. He was picked up at #4 in the draft (about 98?) as a mature age player, so it's safe to assume he was a serious talent. I think he played for South Adelaide before he was drafted. Kicked 4-5 on debut for the Swans, but like James_37 said, injuries ruined him.

Wow.. didnt expect him to be such a high draft pick!

Unlucky with injuries but I guess he should be happy he got famous and has media gigs now.. and not just a forgotten footballer.
Would have been a total clown if he didnt get injured and succeeded as a FF.. what a shame, not enough personalities today..

Thanks guys. :thumbsu:
