Re: Player Postions 2011

Thanks mate, what is Hibberd? C/B
For mine, the rucks are a bit of a joke. Pretty much every ruckman should be R/F as they all spend time resting in the fwd line in most games.

Re: Player Positions 2011

Ablett should be a fwd/mid. Thompson plunked him there a lot of the time last year. You dont get 44 goals being a pure midfielder!

All things MPP...

From the Mods:
***Please keep all MPP talk consigned to this thread***

Is MPP going to be compulsory this year? Or is a strong bench enough?

Ruck/FWD setup of:

R: Sandilands, Jolly
(Petrie, Z.Smith)

F: N.Riewoldt, Franklin, Pavlich, Chapman, Harvey, A.Krakouer, C.Knights
(I.Smith, Richardson, Callinan)

$5400 remaining.

Strong lineup but no MPP with the FWDS so backing my bench into covering in the byes.

or

OUT: Richardson, Z.Smith
IN: J.Tippett, 103k or less ruck

J.Tippett on the forward bench and i get MPP. I sacrifice some strength on the bench as the 103k ruckmen aren't going to play a lot of games.

or

OUT: Petrie, Knights
IN: J.Tippett, K.Tippett

Having my MPP ruck being the player i'd use to cover my ruck's byes starting in the forwards means i'd effectively have the forward bench covering my rucks as well.

Re: All things MPP...

I think as long as you have cover that's playing you should be right, but if you can add in MPPs then you're obviously better off. I wouldn't go out of my way to utilise it but if you have the option and they're going to perform, then you might as well.

For example, it'd be a good idea to have at least one of your mids/forwards in the midfield because no doubt you'll have Krakouer/Mzungu selected along with someone like Chapman/Pavlich or whoever, it makes sense to have at least one of them in the mids to swap around to create extra cover.

I think you need to be careful with MPP. As last year people compromised their team just to make use of the MPP. It might be different this year because of the byes...so we'll see..

IMO i think MPP is useful but dont use it to the extend where it really effects your team.

The C/F and B/F lines look to have worthy options, but IMO, the B/F, R/F and R/B lines are all pointless.

MPP is slightly more relevant to selections this year, but not much. Most disappointingly, the only couple of half decent B/F options are compromised by when they have their byes, because they play for a side which already has a gun on their line, or because they're on the same side (Richmond has 4/5? B/F options).

Be nice if they'd do something like make all players between $200K and $400K or so dual position players - it'd make the glut of players in this price range a lot more relevant and spice up the selection process a bit.

I have MPP in every area of my team apart from my defence. EG: Getting a Mid to swap with a Defender. I know everybody is banging on about the byes and their affects, but would it really matter? I mean if lets say the saints have a bye, and I cant bring in a mid to go back to cover Goddard, does it really matter given I have a strong bench? My way of thinking is that if your bench is good enough to cover bye/injury/suspension there shouldn't be a massive need to have a MPP in each position. If you can pull it off without compromising your team, then i think its an added bonus/luxury, but I don't think it's a necessity. As long as your bench players are playing regularly then I don't see the problem. Just my thoughts!
