How are all club's going, l see South Belgrave & Silvan have some handy inclusion's.

Will FTGully be the team to beat? will Surrey Park & Canterbury improve.

Thoughts.

Hey guys,

I'm looking for a footy club close by, and I just wanted some info on the following clubs, just about the average age of the playing group at these clubs and whether they have under 18's and a good club culture and whether they draw a crowd , if anyone can PM some info on the following clubs it would be greatly appreciated

Canterbury
Forest Hill
Glen Waverley Hawks
Surrey Park

Thanks heaps

Of those clubs, I'd suggest Forest Hill or Glen Waverly Hawks

I have mates who play at Surrey Park and from everything I've ever heard the club is just badly run. They barely get a dozen spectators at home games and because of the location & layout of the ground nobody pays to get in. The Senior club have to share an oval with 2 or 3 junior teams on training nights. On a positive note though, it's a large ground with wide wings that is maintained in great condition - Apparently one of the best grounds in divvy 4. Probably the best burgers I've eaten too!

Forest Hill is a well run club with good facilities, good coaches & a fairly strong squad. Glen Waverly Hawks are in a similar boat. Friends at both those clubs are happy and all claim their club is a future powerhouse of the EFL, which is actually pretty possible.

Don't know anything about Canterbury other than their ladder position.

Probably your best bet is to just go to a training session at each club and stay with the one you feel most comfortable with.

Have heard Silvan & Eastern Lions are both playing Endeavor Hills.

Silvan Vs Endeavor hills is 5th Marth @ Endeavor Hills
Eastern Lions Vs Endeavor Hills March 19th @ Eastern Lions

Silvan Recruits 2011

The Club has been working hard in the off season to recruit some expierenced and versatile players , with these players onboard for 2011 it looks like the cats will be a very exciting team in their first year in efl .

Mark Cullen : Ex Vermont player who played in 7 flags and holds the games record at Vermont. Brings a wealth of expierance to our young list . A very hard working classy onballer who can also play up forward. A great role model for young developing list of players.

Adam Newing : 2007 Silvan Premiership player. Won Warburtons fc B&F last year. A classy left footer who is looking very fit and setting the tone on the training track. should provide plenty of run off half back and through the midfield

VALE VINCENT BONANNO

Yesterday, the Silvan Football Club suffered the tragic loss of 22 year old player Vincent (Vinnie) Bonanno. Vinnie collapsed without warning whilst returning to his playing position after a break in an intra club practice match. Despite the efforts of those at hand to deliver CPR and the efforts of paramedics attending the ground, Vinnie sadly could not be revived.

Just would like to pass on my condolences to the Silvan footy club after the untimely passing of Vincent Bonnano on the weekend.

Tragic news and I am sure all the local footy community will be thinking of the family and the Silvan footy club at this time.

After missing-out in last year's Grand Final, Ferntree Gully will be out to stamp its authority on the 2011 season.

Expect South Belgrave and Glen Waverley Hawks to throw out a challenge while big improvement will come from Nunawading.

Round 1 results.

Forest Hill 19-8-122 d The Basin 14-17-101.

Eastern Lions 26-28-184 d Surrey park 5-6-36.

Ferntree Gully 12-7-79 d Kilsyth 10-15-75.

Heathmont 23-18-156 d Canterbury 9-8-62.

Glen Waverley Hawks 21-14-140 d Nunawading 10-14-74.

South Belgrave 23-9-147 d Silvan 12-12-84.

Had the pleasure of being at this game. South Belgrave never looked in trouble even from the first bounce. I think the forward line down at Sth is going to be a force to be reckoned with again this year. Looking forward to catching a few other teams over the coming weeks.

Kilsyth misses target

UPON its return to EFL Division 4, some inaccurate kicking for goal cost Kilsyth an upset Round 1 victory at Ferntree Gully on Saturday.

The Cougars had six more scoring shots than their highly-fancied opponent, but couldn't make the most of them as they fell four points short of last year's runners-up.

After a goalless first quarter, a wayward Kilsyth piled-on 4.8 in the second, to get back in to the match, but its misses proved costly late in the game.

Kilsyth coach Simon Caldwell said he felt his team was the better side on the day.

"We were going in to the game thinking we were a big chance," he said.

"We've come back from third division, and we played in the grand final two years ago. We walked away disappointed. We had more clearances, more inside 50s; we just didn't get the result.

Hawks in early swoop

THE Glen Waverley Hawks started their 2011 EFL Division 4 campaign in impressive style, coasting to a 66-point win at Nunawading on Saturday.

The Hawks' forwards had a day-out, with Matt Carnelley bagging seven and Simon Grasser five.

New recruits Fia Tootoo and Ryan Lepore were outstanding for Glen Waverley, while a more familiar face in Matt Fraser was also among the best.

Glen Waverley coach Mick Gaul said his team had, effectively, ended the contest by half-time.

"We're very happy with the way the boys played, considering we've got five or six to come back in," he said.

"I think the game was won in the first quarte
