Eddie McGuire was on 3AW and said that he had a talk with JB today about what Collingwood can do to help with match day sponsorships, fixturing and the like.

He then said that wants a summit of all the club presidents, CEOs with the AFL commission to talk about all the 17th club issue.

He said that at the same summit (quote): “I want everybody to put their hand up and say we want North Melbourne in, even if it we have to give them $4m a year or $3m a year. So we don’t have this cancer in football at the most prospers time in the game, where we’re talking about ‘will the Brayshaw plan survive?’. No, let’s decide that North Melbourne are staying in the competition. And whatever it needs to do, get them working, and let the best business planning in there. Get the best advice to get the Kangaroos work. And I want to play them forever.”

Eddie, who played under 19s for us has always been more of a supporter than Kekovich and Demetriou!!
The man understands heritage!!!!

Respect.

Looks like all eddies are good at their chosen profession, wether its football like dear old eddie sansbury or what ever one eddie maguire choses to be labeled as

eddie charlton:thumbsu:
eddie the eagle;)
eddie and the cruisers:cool:
eddie hitler (bottom):D

Not half as sooky la la as I'm sure he was after Eddie gave him and his lap dog a face to face, chin to chin very public bake at a recent social gathering, again in support of our club.

This stance from Eddie is to be admired, and even at my most cynical, the worst I can say is that he is protecting Collingwood's best interests in maintaining an extra game in Melbourne for his supporters and also preventing a gifted premiership for the Gold Coast Kangaroos.

Don't think he ever played a game for the club. He was invited down to train and then the coach at the time invited him not to train any more. Still, I wish I'd been good enough of a footballer to be told I was not good enough by one D. Pagan.

He's a good man Ed. :thumbsu:

He's certainly exposed the bullshit of the AFL, where it is happy to spend unlimited money trying to get new fans while ignoring those that built this sport.

And kudos to JB for using Eddie as a confidant.

Fair go Pharro, so what if by protecting Collingwood he protects us, heck I might even buy a Collingwood membership.

I reckon Ed might just be angling for the top job at the AFL myself.

I thought I was being entirely fair in saying Ed is to be admired and if I was really searching, the worst I could say is that there's something in this for Collingwood too.

Please explain....

He wouldn't take the massive pay cut and he wouldn't answer to a former Carlton person.

He'd need to take a fairly big pay cut to become an MP and then Prime Minister. Once he President for Life I suppose he can set his own wages.

Eds not short of a buck so I doubt the cash worries him too much.

Being big banana at the AFL would give him plenty of exposure and be a nice fill in until a safe seat can be found for him.

Just a theory.

Ahhh here we go, lets all like Eddie now...

You blokes are despicable. If you couldn't see from he start this bloke was an excellent contributor to football you are blind..

Look where he has got Collingwood, and all the work he has put in for teams like the Bulldogs..

Top bloke and respect is needed.
