Eddie McGuire's punishment ...

Precisely! It was a conditional response at best. If people took it the wrong I apologise was the line he took.

The Collingwood Football Club response was equally pathetic. Unlike North Melbourne and St Kilda who expressed contrition at the behaviour of Brayshaw and Frawley respectively.

McGuire is a bully and megalomaniac.

I deleted that because he has since released a proper apology, but only after copping backlash for his "sorry if you're offended because took it the wrong way, sorry not sorry" bullshit which he initially gave.

Well given the lack of complaints from listeners they clearly didn't disapprove of it.
Maybe they didn't read things into it that weren't there like so many others are doing.

Something similar was said on 3AW to Caro on the same day with no complaints. I suppose all 3AW listeners are misogynist sexists too?

You mean the incident with Tony Shaw where he gave a proper apology and was in tears while doing so? That actually copped flak too, however one was a single throwaway comment which was instantly rebuked on air, whereas the other was a bit done by a repeat offender where every other presenter on the show was roped in on the "joke". Wilson herself says the comments are incomparable.

But yeah you're right, the 3AW listenership isn't much chop either.

Eddie should do a month Working in Domestic Violence centres. Wouldn't hurt him... Then take a picture of him on full Carlton uniform holding a blues flag

******* hell, i cant believe how many people get on their high horse.
Does he really need to be hung?

Well done the media have once again made themselves bigger than the game

Media always consider themselves bigger than the game - likely consequence of media rights being the $ driver

You mean the Tony Shaw incident that wasn't an incident at all either until a week later when the McGuire story broke and the double standard was revealed. There was nothing about a listener backlash nor an apology from Shaw until a week later (and in actual fact Shaw didn't apologise either)

And what was incomparable about what was said? They both referenced dunking her and her staying under. Sounds pretty bloody comparable to me. She's choosing to take one more seriously than the other because one was said by an on air colleague whom I'm assuming she has high regard for and the other by someone she has history and issues with and works at a rival network.

What is most laughable is people trying to make out that Eddie has this long lasting enmity towards women in general from this incident. During his time as President he saw our first two female board members appointed and our first female life membership given out. Maybe it was past time but it still happened under his watch and at his discretion. FFS he was CEO of 9 when Caro was given the Footy Classified gig at Eddie's behest anyway.

Yeah some misogynist he is. The fact is Eddie has a target on his back and has done since the Goodes incident hence this disgusting beat up and public witch hunt. Whatever he says will be scrutinized and over analyzed until anything racist, sexist, homophobic, violent etc can be construed from it and he gets castigated by some of the heroes who like pillorying public figures.

I'd like nothing better than for Eddie to move on as Collingwood President in the very, very near future but not over an absolute bullshit beat up like this.
