Elmo already set this up with paid blue ticks being boosted.Don't think the end is nigh any fine soon, tbh.
It's going to become a right wing echo chamber, blue sky and others will become left echo chambers
Clear as day.Elmo already set this up with paid blue ticks being boosted.
The top half of any right wing Tweet is posts of "wow great fantastic" and under that is normal people asking "WTF is wrong with the people with blue ticks?"
Remember that every fashboi accusation is a confession.
In addition to signalling to the far right, Elon’s salute also serves to wrong-foot democrats. He added “my heart goes out to you” as a description of his gesture, but he knows what it was, and he knows that they know what it was. But because he has conditioned it the way he did, the right gets to claim “oh look, they lost an election so they’re just calling everyone Nazis again”.
Sounds like a plan.
The solution is to report that he did it. Point out it was a dog-whistle by an immature egomaniac. And then move on.In addition to signalling to the far right, Elon’s salute also serves to wrong-foot democrats. You might be right. Your probably are? So we just ignore it completely? It doesn't matter how minimally or dramatically anyone points it out or engages with it... once it's been engaged with it's fishfood for the social media foaming... "Libtards call everything they don't like Nazism", "Just one heartfelt gesture and they're already losing their minds", "Look at all these other Nazis from the other side of politics."
The gesture whether deliberate, accidental, for the LOLs, as a dog-whistle to neonazis, or for any other reason... it still feeds that swarm. Everything feeds that swarm. Even accepting social media can be biased both ways, in a battle between controversy and shit-stirring against pragmatism and thoughtfulness, it will only ever slant one way.

I've never been into social media, apart from BF and another footy forum. Never saw the appeal. Even on BF I am very limited in the topics with which I engage. My first option would be to just through all social media in the bin.
