By letting the 4 charged to have more time, not sure what to make of Robbo in this, after watching offsiders, then 24 hours later here was Robbo smirking that the AFL have backed down because Essendon threatened to take them to the Supreme court, and the AFL don't want thier officials in the Supreme court.

Can't see the AFL 'backing down' because a club has threatened to take them to court.

There are probably things the AFL doesn't want made public.

Eg
- what Vlad knew and when he learned it.
- the contents of certain late-night telephone calls
- the actions of certain people at certain other former employers

Some very awkward questions could be asked, such as why the AFL did not act much sooner than it did, given the knowledge they surely had long before the ACC report.

A public court case would be the worst outcome for the AFL. This is why the saga has taken so long.

Probably an acknowledgement that if Essendon or the gang of four applied for an injunction to delay the hearing they'd get it. No point allowing yourself to be taken court if you know you'll lose.

Whether the hearing eventually happens in its proposed format at a later date will be something the AFL is likely to fight harder for

robbo is doing a great job of pissing away the last ounce of credibility he has on this issue

will be a legacy he will have to live with, when this is all said and done

Whateley asked if the EFC was still to face the inquiry on 26th Aug and Robbo didn't know, which makes me wonder whether he knows anything at all.

Robbo has become even more of an embarrassment with his blatantly biased views on this whole saga.

Disagree. I think Robbo has been solid through this saga.

Steamed Dim Sims with lashings of Soy Sauce, 5 for $5 at Joe's Fish n Chips, Montmorency.

Robbo knows.

Quite a few people wonder if Robbo knows anything.

I've always suspected Robbo of being an Essendon supporter and this does nothing but confirm my fears; a once highly regarded journalist is letting bias taint his work. The AFL can not and will not back down from the challenge if 1 (ONE) football club decides it does not like a ruling/charge.

Ummm what 360 said was that the charges wont be heard if the accused feel like they need more time to present their defence. Doesn't mean they wont be heard but if the charged parties feel like they need more time to prepare the charges will be heard later.

Will be interesting to see how serious President Little is about seeing to this to be over and done with as he said at his presidents lunch the other day he will allow the charges against Essendon to be heard on the 26th or if he will draw the saga out for longer?

He is a confirmed Bomber supporter it is widely known. He used to ghost write James Hirds columns in the HeraldSun

Risky approach by Essendon.

Cop a 15 goal loss to Richmond or Coll in an elimination final.

& then risk points, draft restrictions, etc in 14'.

& hope ASADA don't issue infraction notices in January as being reported.

hey?

AFL knew about all this pre-Feb. Can't have that come out in court.

"It would appear that the AFL has certainly blinked in these negotiations," Hird's spokesman told AFL.com.au.
Essendon is being represented separately and had not been involved in the Hird camp's plans.
"The club is still working through the process, and we don't have any update at this point in time," a club spokesperson told AFL.com.au.
Hird's representative Julian Burnside QC and Essendon's lawyer Jack Rush QC wouldn't comment when contacted by AFL.com.au.
Who is Hird's spokesman, Hanke?

Wheels of justice turning slowly but grinding very finely etc.

I am happier actually if any point deductions against the Bombers are in 2014, provided that coaching suspension are in competition as well.

PS Will Vlad stand down if the Bombers participate in the finals and then infraction notices are issued against players?
