We need a genuinely defensively minded, one-percenter pressure midfielder. Basically our version of Tom Atkins from Geelong.

Or Hewitt from the Blues. He’s added more value than Cerra has.

Berry seems to play that roll occasionally, especially when an opposition mid gets on top.

When Rankine pushed into the middle at stoppages last night Starce went with him and obviously played well also. Everyone wants to see Starce into the middle because of his possible clearance winning ability. I think he’s got just as much going for him by way of his defensive mindset as to anything he possibly could give offensively.

Berry seems to be more of a tagger that does a job on one dominant player. I think we need someone more broadly defensively-minded who sets up at the back of stoppages as a sweeper, lays blocks around the ground etc.

I think that's more by design than anything. I think he could play that role.

Fagan has done a great job to get lions to be relevant . But I don’t think he can take this club any further . Don’t think he has the tactical capabilities of a coach . Would be a bold move but sometimes have to take a chance . And if you could get Clarkson without it breaking the whole playing group worth considering .

18 - no one is rumouring he will be coaching at Hawthorn next year. ;)
Maybe if Mitchell has a poor year and loses all the players support at Hawthorn next season hehe :p

Whatley saying he thinks Clarko will sit out 2023 and return in 2024.

Fagans contract is up at the end of next year and I don’t think he intends to coach on.

If Clarkson announces he is having another year off, I feel we would come right into the frame.

Just to be absolutely sure, I'd like to have Clarko locked away as our senior assistant then for 2023. Please come along, get to know the team and the players, assist Fagan to even pull off our second Premiership. Fagan rides away into sunset and Clarko takes over.

Yep woukd make sense, doubt we could pay him in that role with Fagan though, I’d say if this were to eventuate, it’d be with a year with Fagan is a lesser support role for 24.

I’m purely going off gut, but I just have a funny feeling about this. I think at very least conversations have been had. I reckon Fagan would LOVE nothing more than a clean handover to his Mate Clarko to enshrine his legacy at the club.

I am having trouble confirming but I’ve beeen told Clarksons Daughter lives in Brisbane and is potentially dating a Lions VFL player? Not sure if true but would be interesting to find out.

I can imagine Clarko to the Lions happening, the only point that puts a kibosh on that line of thinking is the speculated Clarko asking price ie. 1.3 million, I can not see us paying that sort of money.

and we pickup Buddy to replace Dan as the third forward :) he he

Love to have Clarko around part time said the same this year. Although you think he and Fagan still talk all the time.
Really depends what he wants to do.. sitting another year out not sure he will

If Clarko really wants to coach again, he'll do it happily for far less than that. If he needs to be 'bribed' to take on any job it's fair to say he's not that interested, in which case: avoid.
