Hard to see how Roos to Goodwin could not be considered a success.

Roos' last year at Melbourne was 2016, when they finished 11th with a 10-12 record and 97.6%. It was their best performance since they last made finals, which was in 2006.

Then in Goodwin's first year, 2017, they went 12-10, 105.2%, finished 9th and missed finals by a p00fteenth.

Then in 2018, they improved to 14-8, their first finals berth in 12 years, 131.4%, won 2 finals.

That to me is an unqualified success whichever way you look at it. Even if they hadn't won the 2021 flag and competed at the pointy end every year ever since, the consistent uptick from 2014 (when Roos took over) to 2018 is pretty emphatic I'm sure you'd agree.

I don’t think there is a wrong answer re whether to go down the path of a succession plan. However, it obviously limits your options and you want to be sure the assistant is the right person when you announce it.

Goodwin is a very interesting example. He won a flag in 2021 but you’d argue has massively underperformed since relative to the list he has had. He’d be the biggest underperforming coach since 2021 imo. Some might argue Hinkley but Hinkley has a shit list which has been cobbled together.

I like it, if Fagan/Daly like what he offers expect to see him get a permanent assistant coach's position in 2025 if he wants it.

Can only assume we rate him as a coach and if it was up to us we'd have a more prominent role

Hopefully puts us in a good position to get him next year

Plus I'm sure he's happy to have an informal footy chat with the coaches between skill sessions

I like it too; can’t be a bad thing bringing in any additional support to Fages and Co - obviously doesn’t extend to match day which is probably a tad disappointing but understandable if he’s only at the club one day a week.

After an underwhelming coaching stint at the Suns and then a decent break from the rigours of it all, maybe he can resurrect his career starting here.

He's not my cup of tea with the problems he had with his coaching team at the Suns but I'm sure the Lions will approach any further role with care.

Could he be our next coach? Permanent assistant next year and then take over from Fagan when Fagan inevitably goes to Tasmania.
I would prefer Nathan Buckley when **** moves on as the Head of Footy at the Devils.

Bucks finally gets his flag in his first season as Lions coach in 2027 to cap off a Lions 3Peat in a record breaking 120 point demolition of Collingwood on GF day with Cam Rayner winning his 3rd successive Norm Smith Medal.

Can I have some of your stash? I desperately need some. ;)

Did you take the drugs in the wrong order again?

Dew seems like one of those people who's good as an assistant but not as a head coach.
Maybe not unlike Leppa to some degree. Extremely well regarded as an Assistant but didn't appear to be as capable as a Senior Coach. Having said that, neither he nor Vossy got the support they deserved at the Lions. Dew was enormously respected as an Assistant Coach at the Swans and hopefully his senior experience has made him even better for us.

I feel like you're missing someone obvious...

Wait a sec, there's someone at my door.

"You’ve got the nerve to make a post, and even be here? You’ve been preying on us the whole time.

You barrack for Brisbane, you’ve been preying on us. You’ve been opening us up, causing turmoil within our football club. Is that the gutter poster you want to be?"

Oh yeah, thanks Luke.

I don’t know what bevvo might have on me and don’t want to get canceled.

In lieu of that, bevvo is the best coach I’ve ever seen and we would be lucky to have him.

Maybe we are re-thinking the Cotchin appointment as that hasn’t really done anything positive.
I don’t mind Dew as an assistant and hopefully we can extend his hours next year.

Cotchin is the reason our goal kicking has turned to shit.

What exactly should Harris and Lachie be doing differently?

I don’t know if they’re already doing this but imo they should be giving the brave heart speech or Al Pacino any given Sunday speech prior to running out each week.

EITHER WE HEAL AS A TEAM OR WE WILL DIE AS INDIVIDUALS.
