IMO the major problem is not the coaches it is the players.

I think we need a mini reset, retire Mitch Robbo and move on from Lyons, Rich and Zorko.

If we could get in a quality mid like Josh Dunkley to go along with Will Ashcroft and Dev Robertson and then rejig a few positions I think we would become genuine contenders pretty quickly.

Probs been answered 100 times and I should know but is Luke Hodge a part time assistant?

Also I agree with most on here regarding the need for a change to the assistants. I don’t think we need to radically change the game plan. But we do need to tidy up a few areas and show some proactiveness in how we go about nullifying the oppositions strengths.

I think the amount of contests Andrews has to deal with as well as body issues is making footy pretty unpleasant for him. There was some stat posted the other day here and it seems like Andrews is having more one on one contests than just about any defender. I don't think it's any coincidence Andrews plays a lot better when there's more pressure up the ground but we regularly have periods in games where the opposition just gets a run on in the midfield and gets non stop forward entries. The sheer weight of volume eventually takes it toll and he's not good at hiding his frustration with his body language.
 
Can't see Fagan as being the problem when you look at the deficiencies in our list. Might look to change up the assistant coaches and rejig the list a bit though, for sure.

I think Fagan is a problem without quality assistants if that makes sense. He is very much the NFL/ Soccer manager type coach. A senior guy with great man management skills. I'm not sure his technical ability is up to scratch and/ or there is anyone senior enough to really question his selections or convince him to change structures/ players etc. We seemed a better club with Noble as the GM and Daley as the senior assistant.

Just watched Fages presser, not much different than I expected, he never criticises individual players BUT his highlighting of us "winning" the 2nd half and how good some of the stats were was a little cringeworthy considering the performance.

The 2nd half was meaningless IMO, the Demons were in cruise control, the whole 2nd half was junk time goals for us, Demons could have flicked the switch at anytime, I said to my son in the last quarter the Demons are taking the piss/toying with us.

Just watch how the game unfolded and it was clear to see the Demons are on another level to us.

Hmmm he’s encroaching on deluded territory if he’s picking any positives out of the game last night.

I’m not one of those that need to hear him go ballistic in a post match presser to validate what we here are all thinking, but I hope (and can only assume) some home truths are being given behind closed doors.

Second half was never going to mean anything.

One team had a flag shot to prepare and not risk injuries for.

The other had a shot to try and win a final before bundling out to prepare for.
 
This isn't Fagan's fault it's ****ing Danny Daly he's done jack shit since he took over from Noble, I'd move him on and bring back Noble.

What exactly is alleged to have been said by Zorko or is it too bad to quote on an open forum? Obviously something very personal seeing it bought Harry Petty to tears.
 
Can somebody explain what this great Coach we have and Assistants have done in the last 2 years to confirm that we were going to be an absolute threat for Premierships. Unfortunately, in my mind I see very little. What have they done to make an improvement to our game because last and this season I have been on the negative. Performances like last night I can see us going out of the eight for the next few seasons unless there is CHANGE. I see comments it's the players - partially Yes - but overall THE Coach makes the final decisions.
 
Read somewhere Gardiner is looking to re-sign long term and Zorko will be extended a year. If these two happens, Fagan can't resist playing either of them in 2023. Not looking forward to it.

Geelong apparently trained and prepared with keeping Melbourne in mind. What players or structure we need to beat them in the end. But we play with a structure which we are comfortable with and not much regard to how it'll work against the best opposition. Answerth vs Kozzy again. We will never ever ever ever ever win that one unless Kozzy suffers an injury or off day or Dees collectively have an off day. But we didn't even entertain the thought of preparing Madden for that matchup throughout the entire 2022. Because Answerth is a core player and part of Fagan's core team - similar to Lyons.

If Fagan wants to keep trying the same plan with same players even in 2023, its sad but a change is needed.
