The latter three all smelled very non-consensual, which probably contributes to the mess.I think only been two succession plans that worked. Both was Roos moving on to Horse and Goodwin
All the rest ended up a mess of a hand over.
Clarko-Mitchell, Malthouse-Buckley and Worsfold-Rutten

Gardiner a great example. Was so banged up mid year. Just kept being put out there. Looked very hampered. When he got an impact injury and had to miss 4 weeks, he came back looking so much better. So why on earth play him through injury, when we have Lester sitting there as replacement? The 'squads win flags' line is true but is empty words from Fagan.Two.....JBerry on friday night. (and probably lots in between)
It was minor in comparison to Joe, but it proves something I've thought for ages and that is the medicos do what the coaches want, not the way it should be......and that is to rest/sort out injured players. Follow Doctors advice.
...and while they are resting, we bring up a newbie from the seconds and might unearth a new player.
Perhaps it would be best if we started to 'manage' Gardiner.
Funny how things change, only a few seasons ago we were happy to lose by under 5 goals, now we are about to enter our fourth finals series in a row (three finishing top four) and people want the coach gone. People wanted Dimma Hardwick gone and it took him 7-8 years with a fairly hefty off-field cleanout to get them to a premiership of which he has now coached three. I think Fages would be one of the best coaches in the league to extract what he has out of our list, realistically we are very thin in a number of areas.

Very few coaches move retire willingly while the club is up.
Lethal moved on although final few years where we where on the ladder 11,13,10 and 10.
I am happy Fagan go around again.
Just as others said we need a shake up in assistants. A few the same since Leppa days.
Fagan has had his 7 years. Next year will bring him to 8. Are you content to keep going with him after that time period?Funny how things change, only a few seasons ago we were happy to lose by under 5 goals, now we are about to enter our fourth finals series in a row (three finishing top four) and people want the coach gone. Then I'll change my mind. Do you see that happening, realistically? What if he wins a flag between now and then and wants to continue?

from where we where 8 not bad..Fagan has had his 7 years. Next year will bring him to 8. Are you content to keep going with him after that time period?
It’s really only 6 years. 7 years next year.Fagan has had his 7 years. Next year will bring him to 8. Are you content to keep going with him after that time period?
You're a lot more optimistic than I.I think we're as good as chance as any in 2023. List is healthy and in its prime. Trade in a missing piece and Rayner + Bailey takes another step and we could do anything.
He has performed greater than Hardwick had at the same point of his career, so yes I am. Particularly when you consider the team Fagan took over. 7th season next year.Fagan has had his 7 years. Next year will bring him to 8. Are you content to keep going with him after that time period?
That is sort of what I was wondering about Fages as well. Something coaching wise doesn't seem to be working. You can't tell me our list isn't better than Collingwood's. Whether he is still the man for the job and needs some changes around him or not is what we are all wondering I guess. I would prefer to see Fages 'promoted' than leaving the club though.FWIW and I think he was just spitballing but Ralphy was saying on radio this morning we should ask the question of Noble once again to take over the Footy Manager job that he had previously. Apparently his family is still living up here in Brisbane.
Said whilst Daly is doing a good job in that space it seemed to be better when he was the senior/tactical assistant to Fages.
Not sure Daly would be overly keen on a demotion like that, although it’s hard to argue things weren’t working better with that set up.
FWIW I actually think Fages as the Footy Manager would be the way to go in the future but again not sure how he’d feel hanging around in that role after being head coach.
But is our current list better or worse than what Hardwick was working with? Particularly in 2017.He has performed greater than Hardwick had at the same point of his career, so yes I am. Particularly when you consider the team Fagan took over. 7th season next year.
Hard to say really. They had better staff around Hardwick though, no doubt about that. But is our current list better or worse than what Hardwick was working with? Particularly in 2017.
