Fitzroy used both its selections in the 1981 Interstate Draft on midfielders - 1 from East Perth & the other from Glenelg. Both players went on to have distinguished AFL careers, but only 1 was with Fitzroy. Who were the 2 players?

Dean Turner (East Perth) was the 9th selection overall & Chris McDermott (Glenelg) 21st.

Turner joined the Roys in 1984, then moved to West Coast in 1987. McDermott didn't play AFL until 1991, when he was made the inaugural skipper of the Adelaide Crows.

I reckon the addition of C.McDermott to the Roys, during the 80's, might just have been enough to take us to a premiership.

I was thinking of having a dip at guessing Dean Turner, but would never have got McDermott.
