he has kicked a lot of goals and is going ok, but look at who he has kicked his goals against

I reckon 75% of his goals (maybe more) have come aginst teams in the lower regions of the ladder ie. Hawthorn, Richmond, WC, Coll, Adel

How many has he booted vs the Demons, Lions, St.Kilda, Bombers etc?

Can someone do the stats?

He was beaten by Nathan Carroll earlier in the year when we thumped them.

That says something - although the kid can play!

Yze,

Haven't gone to the stats yet, but, i wonder how many goals he would kick in a top eight side, sides that deliver the ball better and more often into the forward 50.

At 23 he still has a chance of improving and I am sure most current coaches would love FEV to be in their line up.

Yeap beaten early but finished the day with 6

I went to the Round 17 Collingwood/Carlton match at the 'G last year. If not for Fevola, Carlton would have lost by over 100 points (not a dig at Carlton). I think he's a fairly handy player.

I would say that probably has more to do with Carlton's midfield getting beaten by the better sides than it does Fevola's ability, which he has bucketloads of.

You are taking away all his good games and focusing on the negatives. In Round 2 he gave Scarlett (the best FB in the league IMO) an absolute hiding, beat him one on one where Fevola is not too apt. Scarlett was then dragged and played up forward.

He had six scoring shots on McPharlin (3.3) and with the games that he struggled in (Brisbane, St. Kilda, Essendon, St. Kilda and Melbourne)... well, even the best full forwards will struggle without a midfield feeding them the ball.

Oh, and Fevola > Neitz. If Fevola is not that good (sitting 3rd on the Coleman ladder) then by your logic Neitz must be a hack! I hope he gets off so we can see if he can beat Barry (or not).

Oh i am sorry i was talking about his bother trent ..................lol

He's certainly had a field day against lower ranked sides, more so than against the top sides, but he's still a very good player.

1 1.0 St Kilda
2 2.3 Melbourne
3 0.2 Brisbane
5 5.1 Geelong
6 2.1 Essendon
7 3.3 Fremantle
8 4.3 Kangaroos
11 6.2 West Coast
12 7.1 Adelaide
13 3.1 Western Bulldogs
14 6.1 Collingwood
15 8.5 Richmond
16 6.1 Hawthorn

Still has plenty of time left to go well against the better sides this year.

That's his next step - beat good defenders constantly and still kick 4 + when your midfield is getting beaten with no supply. Make the most out of opportunities against stronger sides. Carlton vs Geelong; the battle of the mop-tops. It will be a beauty later on! Both will be near or at their height.

wrong there Yze_ he is a very good player, just the ego needs to be roped in

Neitz has kicked 44 (25 against the current bottom 8), Fevola has kicked 53, including time spent at full back.

Considering Melbourne's midfield is full of champions with the best ruckman that ever lived feeding them the ball, wouldn't Neitz be getting quicker and better service? Yet he's kicked 9 goals less, so going by Tragic's logic...

Fevola > Neitz.

Or am I forgetting to make convenient exceptions for Melbourne players?

Neitz > Any Norf forward.

Now go away.

You'll get no arguments from me on that, Neitz is significantly better than any of our forwards at the current time.

But considering the point of this thread is a Melbourne supporter, who thinks Neitz is the best forward in the comp, bagging Fevola, then it's quite relevant.

False.

One good year from Fevola, heaps from Neitz.

Neitz > Fevola

Neitz > Fevola

Going by that logic:

Sav Rocca (650+ goals) > Neitz (450+)

Sav Rocca (650+ goals) > Neitz (450+)

I'd pay that as a forward over their careers, although Neitz spent a good amount of his career as a Centre Half Back, even winning AA honours there in 1995.

And even for that matter, Neitz would get the nod as being a far more consistent forward when playing down there. Rocca hasn't been much chop for years now, and had he played his whole career as a forward would have more than Sav.

False my arse.

Fevola plays as a forward by himself.

Neitz plays alongside Davey, Robertson, Bruce, Vardy, Miller and even Holland, who all kick goals.

Neitz > Fevola.
