So Saturday QF v Collingwood or Fremantle at the MCG.

The pies don't have a forward line that I think will trouble us.

You would assume as the highest ranked team our QF will be on either the thursday or friday night.
I agree we are basically odds on to get coll in the QF (if coll and freo both win which is likely) or freo (if they win and carlton beat collingwood).
We cant get melb in a QF unless bris beat them and both sydney and collingwood lose-i think sydney losing is unlikely when they could finish 2nd and get 2 home finals or drop to 6th if they lose-theres a lot at stake for them. This is good as i dont want to get melb in a QF.

It's once a week? How many young kids go to the footy as is? Not like it'll kill em.

Its very very hard unless you can convince family and take them with you. Try getting special needs kids to friday night games and its even harder. The finals fixture should be based around what helps families attend not what C7 and Fox want (which is what the issue is).

Ideally not at all, but would prefer to get them in the GF if we have to face them.

Basically what it comes down to is I just want to avoid having to play "home" Qualifying Finals, Semi Finals or Prelim Finals against MCG tenants. Grand Final ticket allocation is such that the partisanship against us won't be as feral. Hence why I don't want to play the Pies or Tigers until the GF.
I want Sydney in a GF. Lots of players have noted that interstate teams' preparations are all out of wack GF week whereas we'd just rock up on the day no problems.

But tbh anyone, anytime, anywhere (but actually at the G). We shouldn't hold reservations over anybody. We're primed and ready to explode. I wouldn't be surprised if it was a 2011 finals series where nobody else get within 5 goals but still one week at a time lol.

There is no such thing as avoiding hard games in finals. We have to beat at some point probably collingwood melbourne sydney and potentially if they are a suprise packet richmond
Tigers are unfortunately, getting it all together "when it counts" so that would not be a surprise to me. Our form has been really strong, but our game v Tigers was a beauty, and we were lucky after early dominance.

Richmond will have to win 2 away finals to even see us in the PF.

They'll play Melbourne at the G or Brisbane at the GABBA week 1.

Should they win week 1 they'll either play Brisbane at the GABBA or Melbourne at the G.

Tough, tough 2 weeks for them.
Melbourne at the G is hardly "away" for them.

One away game, not 2. They will outnumber the Demons fans easily

Lets hope freo or brisbane takes care of them week 1 of finals. Will be a hard task and a bruising one. They are not as good as they once were and are at the same point in their decline as we were 2013 ( two years post premiership).

Issue is.. There are no superstar teams at the top, so they are still in it on their day

Reckon the Pies bubble has burst. Carl will be hungry. Going to be a super game.

But spanking the Pies in front of 90,000 would be a nice way to start our finals campaign.
Do you think it has burst after one loss?? We will see next week. I am backing them to beat carlton

Tigers might have to go interstate more than once. I wouldnt be surprised if they lose for example in perth or sydney. I dont think they will make it to the GF unless they have some dusty special games. We are in a great position

We have not looked this well than this since 2011.

Can we win a flag in an odd year, without the 10 commentary?

I’m pretty perplexed over this fear about the tigers in multiple threads

They aren’t a threat this year I don’t see why people are rating them
Lynch
Defence
Bolton
Dusty* (potentially)
Rucks

HGA if at the G

Richmond could be at the gabba in week one and then say scg in week 2. Its a tough road for them.

True, mine was a reply to the post about playing Demons and Lions.

Tigers likely to play Melb in the elimination final. Either result is good for us. One potential danger out the way and then they have to travel interstate before potentially facing us. As you say, we've put ourselves in a great position. Just need Bris to beat Melb this coming weekend.

I actually rate them. I dont consider the way they knocked over some top teams including melbourne as a fluke.. They actually knocked over melbourne twice at the MCG which is no small feat. They play a very similarish brand of football to what we do, they probably press up even higher than we do but its widely based off run and carry.

I wouldnt get carried away with winning margins as i assume thats your basis of pretenders?

Craig mcrae reminds me alot of a young chris scott with his footy intelligence and ability to get alot out of his players. I really rate him as an elite choice.

If its geelong collingwood first week of finals i think it will be on for young and old, and winner will make the grand final and win it. Thats my early call if we get them

Martin is theIr barometer in finals and there no guarantee that he will be playing finals let alone in peak form to make that needed impact

Espically with interstate finals
True that.
But some will remain wary of them until they are evicted.
