We can't afford to get smashed in contested possessions imo. Even if they dominate clearances, we can hopefully get them with our pressure resulting in turnovers allowing for our speedy & skilful halfbacks/wings to move the ball at pace into our mobile forward line. Counter attacking gameplan to win it for us. Unless Ruck Jesus has a miracle performance & absolutely smashes blues rucks.

1. Need elite pressure.
2. Match them with contested footy.
3. Our talls need to win the contested mark/intercept mark battle.
4. Need speed on the ball when attacking.

Sub - Either someone who can help with winning the contested footy/pressure or someone who can help win the aerial battle.

The last time we played Carlton in a Final at the MCG 37 years ago . Hopefully we can turn around the result this time.

Some amazing Swans history in this match. Enjoy!
Watching the deliberate out of bounds is hilarious and triggers me every time.

Was a shocking day , we had a sensational team and didn't win a final . Hafey didn't lighten off training and some blokes were knackered .
People complain now that we are hard done by , WE WERN'T GIVEN HOME FINALS

I like the look of the mock team, pretty much full strength! I sure hope Papley and McInerney are back. Stephens super sub, to be brought in 10 minutes into the 4th quarter (fingers crossed).

Mock team lol

Feeling pretty confident tbh, especially if Paps and JMac are in and fit.

Finals experience matters and Carlton will be full of nerves no matter what they say publicly.

Now there's a chance that Charlie kicks 9 and blows us away but if we keep him to 2 or 3 goals, we'll win.

Carlton weren’t even trying against GWS nothing to gain everything to lose with a silly suspension or something
So Voss told them don't try ? The players got together before the game and said **** this let's just go through the motions ? Were they trying the week before when Gold Coast should have beat them 3-4 goals if not for Curnow ? Give me a spell. They were shit the last 2 weeks and I would say if you sustain pressure for as long as we did against Melbourne by half way through the 3rd with some goal kicking accuracy you will break them. They are nowhere near the beasts Oliver, Petracca and Viney are. I'm tipping if that is the case we are not fading this week.

I said this in another thread the other day and it is never gonna happen, but I would love for us to try to address this issue we have towards the end of games by starting Parker as sub.

Just bring him on for the last 40 minutes or so and go as hard as he can at stoppages and clearances.

Actually try to use the sub as a tactical advantage for the first time ever.

I’m not confident but am hopeful about Friday. I’m enjoying that their preview thread is about 10x as long as ours…they must have been waiting a long time for this? Wouldn’t it be delicious to end their season on Friday.

Sounds like the type of advice Cotchin received when he chose to kick against the wind when they played Port in an elimination final.

*Port booted eight goals to one to lead by 42 points at quarter-time

I just don't really know who our winners on the ground are going to be. No one's really standing out across the year and if it's another week of the Gulden & Warner show then forget about moving onto week 2.

Is Parker going to be fit? How are we gonna use Mills? What version of Blakey & Florent are we gonna get this week? Will Heeney kick straight? What sort of form are Papley & McInerney going to be in?

I just have no idea to any of the above questions. Last year we were heading into finals with SO many players in ripping form. This year our players form feels all over the shop despite getting wins.

I’m amazed McI is widely assumed to be an “in”.

He’s missed a fair bit of footy - does he come in for Stephens, who has been going ok?

I’m not so sure.

If he's fit he offers significantly more than Stephens, especially in a final where you need game breakers.

There's zero chance Stephens scores the intercept goal JMac snared in the prelim last year.

Sub would be ideal
