Hello distinguished footy jumper creators, lovers and everything else in-between. A couple of weeks ago I posted an idea on the competitions thread about an idea about having an AFL Jumper Hall of Fame. This had very positive views so I need all your help to put together a list of jumpers to make the cut for voting. Every year, 2-3 jumpers will be give the legendary status of being in the FJGD AFL Jumper Hall of Fame. After I get a list of 20-30 jumpers polling will begin. In the First round of voting, every voter can vote for 5 different jumpers. After the first round of voting, the field will be cut in half. In the second round, voters can vote for 3 jumpers. After the second round, their will be only 4-5 jumpers remaining. In the final round every voter can vote for 1 jumper that they think is worthy of being in the hall of fame. I would like to start voting by late November-early December so what ever you think is worthy of making the hall of fame, post on this thread and ill put it down on the short list. Thank you for taking part in the first annual FJGD AFL Jumper hall of Fame now, get cracking with the jumper selections.

Should be enjoyable. When you say AFL jumpers do you mean strictly AFL team jumpers, or any Australian Rules Football jumper?

I'm sorry, but you did not have very positive views. You had 2 likes and 1 positive reply. My response of there is no need for this had more likes.

Add to that there was no go ahead given by any of the mods.

Looking forward to it!! I do have a little idea though, we could have a FJGD Hall of Fame which is announced at the time of the FJGD Awards each year where designers and users can be inducted. Then every couple of years, a Hall of Fame member can be elevated to Legend status. I dont know how we could do this however there could be a Hall of Fame committee to decide on inductees and legends?

I'm confused. Is this a Hall of Fame for designs made by fellow FJGD'ers throughout the various comps over the years? If so I think that'd be interesting but I think everybody has a general idea as to what the "best" AFL jumpers throughout the years have been.
The Swooping Magpie will forever be the greatest, of course ;)

Also, teams may have pretty much the same overall HOF-worthy design for long periods but there can be variations along the way. Would we nominate the basic design overall, or the particular iteration/s we most like? Thanks.
a particular iteration.

this is just for AFL jumpers that was used by AFL teams. by the way, the swooping magpie will be added to the shortlist.

I've added in the Bouncing Roo because we all know it is one of the greatest jumpers

I'm not sure this will end up going ahead (craegus covered it pretty well), but in the event that it does, I'll just leave these here:

All of them are added

Nominations:
Adelaide - pre-season 1996-8 (clever wrap-around design for the time)
Brisbane - Fitzroy 1956 & 1974 (love that monogram)
- Fitzroy pre-season 1995-6 (love that lion & the chevrons)
- V/chevron 1992
- current home & away (love that lion again)
Carlton - monogram 1998-2014
Essendon - sash (current)
Fremantle - anchor 2001
- home chevrons 2011 onwards
North Melbourne - white V on blue (e.g. 1925)
- away, bounding roo 4 stripes 2000-2
Port Adelaide - prison bars (e.g. elimination final 2014) [of course!]
- away lightning bolt 2003
Saint Kilda - current main

Probably should have an HOI (Hall of Infamy) as well:D

Yeah this really isn’t necessary - like, everyone already has a rough idea of what jumpers have cult status on this board.

Think craegus summed it up well.

Just to clarify, the Shortlist is just a group of jumpers that will be cut down to the 20-30 starting jumpers. Not all jumpers that are on the shortlist will make it to the polling.

jmac91 do you read all the comments or just the ones that suit you?

There is no need for this thread or competition/whatever you want to call it. You have also not been given the go ahead to run this (as you did not meet the guidelines for a competition, and have not been given approval from any moderator), let it go and move on to other endeavours. People know what guernseys they like above others and I can almost guarantee that if this went ahead, which as I have said and others have reiterated there is no need, everyone knows what would win this hands down.

In fairness, Mero's green jumper is neither on the list nor a real jumper :p

Although I would personally cut down the entries to 5-10 jumpers.
