When a police vehicle drove Mr O'Keefe from the station just after 4:00pm, he could be heard screaming and thumping the side of the van.

Former TV host Andrew O'Keefe has been charged after allegedly grabbing a woman's throat before kicking and punching her in Sydney's CBD.

Mr O'Keefe, 50, was arrested about 4.30am today after police were notified about the alleged incident, which took place on Tuesday afternoon.

NSW Police said the former White Ribbon ambassador met with a 38-year-old woman at his Kent Street apartment about 1.40pm on January 25 when an altercation broke out.

"A verbal argument ensued between the pair, before the man allegedly assaulted the woman — grabbing her by the throat, pushing her to the ground and punching her," a police statement read.

"The man allegedly assaulted the woman a second time — punching and kicking her — before she left the unit."

Mr O'Keefe was taken to Day Street Police Station, where he was charged with two counts of choking a person, three counts of common assault and one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

What a creep.

Andrew has battled mental health for quite some time, so I won't sink the boot in for something that may be related to that

but I will note he was very quick to judge others for just about everything and anything

just how quickly life can turn and we need friends when it does

The PoS used to campaign against DV. Now he's a useless violent druggie bully by the looks of it. I hope he rots.
I hope he is treated no differently to a street junkie or a black kid in the outback.

Justice should be blind not vengeful. But those with connections can get favourable treatment which is what really aggravates.

I will. If this guy didn't have double standards he'd have none at all.

Among a very strong field, possibly the most smug and sanctimonious media presenter out there on this subject, who to no one's surprise turns out to be the biggest hypocrite. Feck him.

Pretty sure this isnt his first rodeo either.
A couple of years ago (longer?) he was reportedly found drunk, passed out in an alley. He came on tv and said haven't the media got anything better to do, blah blah. Obviously long-time problems. Channel 7 started to get the wobbles with him at that point.

Whimpered in the dock ...

From the above article:

The courtroom heard this was the third assault Mr O'Keefe had been accused of in recent times.

Two charges were dismissed last year on mental health grounds, and he was out on bail regarding a third charge at the time of this week’s alleged assault.

I read earlier it was in 2009. He doesn't have a studio to look after him/play it down this time. Interesting to see what happens.

That far back, wow, how time flies ;). But he stayed "clean" for a few years after that then, unless anything happened that was hushed up. Then meth crept into his troubled life... :(

That's why in ye olden days we had mental asylums. Keeps people like this off the streets.

It's non-PC to suggest guys like this should be in psyche wards.
