Name another sport where at half time you have 2 cans of southern and 4 dim sims
Sitting on the bench for A grade footy after playing a whole game in B's because they're short on players

'Wanna double up and sit on the bench for A grade, we're short '

'Ffs....can I drink port and smoke cigs, it's 12 degrees?'

'Yup'

We don't need to change a game to make it less susceptible to crowd violence. People who are violent need to stop being violent. If it wasn't at a soccer game it would be somewhere else. A flare is not an unimpeachable cultural object - it's a functional tool for alerting people to being lost at sea.
"The game is too boring" was the argument being proposed there. Why don't I read about golf riots then?

My point is the responsibility for the violence rests with those perpetrating the violence.
Yep its true - people are violent. So the question is why is there more violence when people are watching soccer rather than golf?

And the answer is not because soccer is boring (because its not - its incredibly skilful), its because the low scoring element of the game increases the levels of frustration in supporters and frustration, unfortunately, is a significant trigger for violence (whether that be at the soccer or stuck on a clogged freeway).

So decrease the levels of frustration and you will decrease the outbreaks of violence (eventually!!!)

Synchronised swimming is highly skillful, but boring

Nah it’s cultural. Soccer and golf have completely different cultures, it’s not about the characteristics of the games. Soccer has always been a working class game and has been the outlet for frustrations of a lot of people. There’s a great book about this called Football Against The Enemy.

It’s cultural. People would kick you up the arse for acting like a dick at the footy. Soccer it’s part of the experience so gets carried through generations.

Yeah, my son reckons that Messi was born obscenely talented where as Ronaldo was born talented but also had to work his arse off to get every drop to rise to the top.
It is a testament to Ronaldo's work ethic that he manged to make it a debate between the two for so long.

But time waits for no man and he did his best to fight it off.

So I'm almost ready to believe that Arsenal might be title contenders. Halfway through the season, playing pretty well, 5 points clear of Man City. Unfortunately we still need to play them twice in the league so that margin could disappear in no time. But we're good enough if we have some luck.

How good is Haaland. Absolute freak. The mighty Toon Army are going pretty well too, we don't even have any of the Saudi money flowing through the list yet.

im not too shocked at Liverpool's fall from grace . We have basically been playing the same players for a couple seasons now and i wonder if the motivation is still there . Also selling off Mane was a huge mistake as he so often scored while all the attention was on Salah . Hopefully we can stay somewhere near the top while we rebuild which im pretty sure is going to have to start happening for next season.
