Foxtel - how atrocious has it become year after year?

So I went to my Foxtel app to set up recording of a show. It said I had to upgrade to a new version. I was not given the option of staying with the older version. So I upgraded.

When I opened up the new version it had lost my user and password. I had no clue about either of them as I had set it up years ago. That sucked.

So I hit the Forgot Password button. A message came up 'Did you forget your password? Don't worry, it happens to the best of us!' Now i'm getting a little cranky.

I had to go through four different Capchas identifying cars and shop fronts. Grrr...

It said it was sending an email with a link to a reset password page. Nothing arrived so I thought I must have entered my email address incorrectly. So I did it all again. Still nothing so I gave up. Twenty minutes later both emails arrived.

**** you Foxtel!!!

We are disconnecting ours after having issue after issue with them for the past 12 months . We’ve probably had it for 5 years total.
Constant dramas with the set top box, been disconnected 3-4 times despite paying the bill . Then taking them days to reconnect us and even trying to charge us a fee despite paying the bills before due date .
Very frustrating

Just found out when they installed it when they removed the antenna cable they threw it out , and they’ve told us we will need to replace that ourselves if we disconnect .

We were only on a $59 pm package so a pretty small customer for them but their service towards us was terrible

Went to watch a pay per view movie on Saturday night and the box kept saying there was no working phone line attached despite the PS4 being able to connect as well as the apps on the tv itself. As soon as the football is over it's gone.
working phone line is a rort, I download over the internet but I need a phone line to order

sounds like something a Telstra backed company would do

They ruin most movies by ignoring the original aspect ratio and just filling the screen.

Got Foxtel Now 24 mths free with a Telstra Cable Internet deal. Added a sports pack initially, all good for a few weeks, then stopped working. Tried to add sports pack, tells me my account is deactivated, though can still watch some stuff. Asks Foxtel why, after 2 months they finally tell me with the Telstra deal I cannot add packs. Wtf, so you dont want my money? Only way to add sport is to register a new account but I lose the 24 mths free.

Nice work Foxtel you buffoons.

There is talk of a new Sports only option coming, so if you’re getting, say, the Pop pack for free, keep it and you might get a $20 sport pack separately in the next couple of months...

$38 would be ridiculous... a $1 saving? :p

Unless they do a tiered Sport option, where it was say $15 for AFL or Cricket or NRL or F1, and combining 2 for $25, 3 for $30 or something...

Anyways, i’m done for the year once the AFL is finished next month. FTA cricket is enough for me, or watch at the pub, and Optus now has EPL/UCL and access to BeIN Sports via Fetch...all of which can be recorded on a Fetch Mighty, with the first 2 I get for free with my phone :)

You could be right. I might have misread the figure as being the one you have mentioned.

Or they are matching up for set top box holders at that price ie $1 for the privilege of the box ;)

For me $38 sports only is better than the $55 now. I could (if I chose) up my internet to unlimited (old man ) and go through the online model but I only save $4 or so. I am at the stage that Foxtel is a luxury and have to make a choice.

Looking at the ESPN app to see if thats an option also

This.

The inflexiblity of the Telstra deal is pathetic

Under straight Foxtel you could adjust your packages. So in off AFL switch to Showtime etc but my understanding with the Telstra deal is you have to go into Telstra and reorganise it..??

Telstra say talk to foxtel. Foxtel say sorry, too hard.

I would too if they ever gave a shit. I've heard they will only try to entice you to stay if you can get someone in Australia on the end of the line rather than an off shore call centre. Not sure if true and not even sure how you get someone in Australia.
Ring during our business hours and you should get an Aussie and getting a discount has worked every time I've done it.

But they put me on hold and tell me they have to speak to their manager. The manager is real right????!! Right?!??!?!!

I'll try that but I'm pretty sure whenever we've called it's been in business hours and we still get the off shore call centre. Suppose we can just keep hanging up on them and trying again. /shrug
Main thing is you want to talk to the disconnections department, not sales.

Actually it doesn't even matter this time as I'm pretty set on cutting it after the footy this year. We currently have a shitty iQ2 box so probably better off kicking it to the curb and then signing up again with a new iQ4 honeymoon deal for the 2019 season. They'd have to offer something pretty stellar to change my mind.
