We rate him highly because he had a good game against us in round 10. His VFL form suggests he should be a good player, but at AFL level in the four games he played in 2022, one goal? Jed McEntees overall AFL form is better than Evans’. I suppose we shall see.
 
If Fantasia & Junior stay fit he'll probably never get a game or McEntee for that matter.

Anyway he's ours now I wish him luck & maybe he'll make us doubters look silly.

DFA implies you're trying to turn a player who was considered not in another club's best 35 players into someone who is good. It's always going to be an uphill battle.

Unless the other club is the SUNS and then you can get Jarryd Lyons.

I'll rephrase. Someone who (due to a strong junior career, elite state league form, a past history of even occasionally performing well at AFL level) shows the potential to be good?

Evans ticks none of these boxes. His junior career was a non-event, his VFL form was fine but not amazing, and in the few chances he's received at AFL level he's shown very little. I reckon I could name 20 potential DFA's who tick at least one of these boxes. Even Jimmy ****ing Rowe ticks a couple of them.

For some reason when Francis Evans was first touted the name of Jason Davenport sprang to mind. So I looked Davenport's record up. He also started at Geelong and played 28 games for us. As I remember it he was a player Choco saw something in but not many others did and Davenport trained with our squad before we picked him up with a late Draft pick. I always thought Choco was looking for another Josh Mahoney and was prepared to take a punt on players who had not made it on other lists. There is touch of that feeling with Hinkley seeing something in Francis Evans.

Chocolate was very much more involved in this stuff than Hinkley. I doubt Hinkley has even seen Evans play, it'd be a Cripps pick.
