Carlton peeps, come on, no one on here wants your advice, stay out

Edit: holy **** Carlton people, how can you think anyone here wants your input on umpires or anything to do with the game. Stay out or get pointed

It's true, but it doesn't help that the two times we actually marked it the ball goes straight back to Carlton. Really frustrating all round.
100%.
Needed 10-20 marks in that time. Just didn’t have the ball enough. Felt like the real chance was Walters to Treacy which was unnecessary. Even 30-45 seconds, still time off the clock. Wasn’t there a sign held up by the runner, which is often the case during the dying minutes?

well, we went out hard and first in the first half - maybe we go back to the game where we coast for the first half and let loose after half time (that game plan was working)

Can’t do that against Carlton. They’re the type of sides that get a little momentum, will kick 5-6 goals quick. The game plan was spot on today.

Issue always has been forward line. Really need a small forward. SonSon was beyond awful. Switkowski was fumbly

True.
Just feel like so many moments happened at crucial times.
Walters wasn’t on today.
Amiss missed that on his left- huge learning curve for him.
Brayshaw’s kicking was really strange.

Just would love the players to be selfish and have a shot when around 40-50m out. Players asking for the pass 15m away should be fined.
Frederick marked and Walters asking for it, on the right pocket. Nah, that’s not acceptable. Frederick has the range and distance.

Jackson inside 50 and looking to pass to Fyfe.
Switkowski handballing it inside 10m instead of having a shot 40m out. These little things have make a big difference.
Brayshaw going for the snap rather then straightening up and having a shot 40m out.
Yeah, what's with the shiddy azz snaps falling short. So not sexy footy. Was rueing he didn't straighten up.

I think you'll find it was for something when the ball was on the way back to the middle. A freo player turns his head and says something, Umpire then pays dissent.

EDIT: I think it was Treacy.
Well, that's completely wrong. The umps confirmed the reason after the game.

The call was against Aish for claiming the ball brushed his head. This was before the first kick on goal. The free kick was the safety belt to make sure we couldn't get up.

he was too small - Son Son can inspire a team, but this wasn't the time

It's week 4, so we have time to sort things before finals
Jaw dropped when seeing that headline. You're right, absolute Gaslight🔥
and the disgusting punch Fyfe copped to the face

I’ve never been big on blaming the umps for costing you a game, but man it was hard to sit through that.

Looked like one ump called touch and another over ruled him? I’m sorry but that’s weak as piss. Can understand the frustration from the players

Personally, I’m glad Clark gave the umpire a spray. He has that dawg in him and if anything we need more of that.

You should never put yourself in a position where a bad call can cost you a game. We had opportunities to kill it off but couldn’t take ‘em. C’est la vie

We should just save time and cut and paste the first 10th of the David Mundy thread into his. The lad is big but he still needs to fill out more and develop the maturity. I think he's three years away from being able to win it consistently. Same as Ras.
With all due respect MJ’s first years are nothing like Mundy’s. Mundy was an effective half back almost from the start and his accurate kicking was already prominent. There’s no comparison mate, they’re nothing alike

I'm not glad Clark did that. I'm filthy at him for doing that. That's not tough mate, that's selfish.

Pearce needs to pull him aside and let him know that rubbish can never happen again

We lost our composure in final 4 mins.

Treacy marks that ball on the 50 we win.

Up by 9 with 3 mins to go the ball doesn't ping pong back to curnow and get locked in Carlton half for the rest of the game.

There will be frustration but I am not too fussed we are close enough to them if good enough if we meet again.

Just need to be more ruthless in front of the sticks.

Watch the replay and Mackay should have been pinged for holding the ball directly after. Had prior and pulled the ball in.

I see your point, I really do but I given the heat of the moment and the fact that Clark plays with such passion I understand why he went off

I’ve yet to watch the replay but I felt Treacey did enough to typically be awarded a mark on the wing. Compounded by the non-touch decision and subsequent double call against Clark (or whoever) was a little hard to take. And by little I mean I am fully raging against those blue pretenders and the green maggots that facilitated yet another close win.

That said our clown show efforts trying to enter i50 did us no favours. We dominated clearance and stoppage, but left the gate open and by Lordy did we pay for it. Hurting tonight but we are back. And next time we get to wipe the perennial smirk off Cripps face.

Could we play Johnson in Hughes role?

I don’t disagree but the last two games he has been on off far to often for my liking. Getting into the game when you spend numerous periods on the bench doesn’t work, especially for young inexperienced guys. Last two games he has had 48% and 65% game time. If you adjust his disposals for the same TOG as Brayshaw he would have had 21 and 23 disposals which is pretty good. Give him 75-80% game time and build his confidence
