Carlton peeps, come on, no one on here wants your advice, stay out

Edit: holy **** Carlton people, how can you think anyone here wants your input on umpires or anything to do with the game. Stay out or get pointed

Well, that's completely wrong. The umps confirmed the reason after the game.

The call was against Aish for claiming the ball brushed his head. This was before the first kick on goal. The free kick was the safety belt to make sure we couldn't get up.

The extra free for “dissent” was actually against Clark. The video on the AFL website shows the umpire telling Clark it’s against him

The close games it’s easy to blame umpires, agree.
Little things really make it big in the long run.
Emmett missed an open goal too.
Both sides fluffed chances. In the end it came down to several instances of "luck"... or what might otherwise be known as "the rub of the green".

Biggest disappointment for me is swearing in front of my kids, it's the third time it's happened and incredibly all against Carlton (2019, 2020 and now today). Lesson is to never drop your integrity, and doesn't seem like JL has either.

The silver-lining is that today was our first loss for the year, these farcical Carlton games would previously occur at the critical, latter stages of the season and crush our souls for the rest of the year. This time, there's massive learning potential and growth to come from this. How amazing would it be to qualify for finals and sink Carlton in front of the whole country? It'll make all these precious disasters obsolete.

Losing Frederick and Switkowski is plain bad for our forward line, and it's our most vulnerable patch. Truth is we're missing Schulz and what he brought last year, I suspect we'll come to miss him in the short-term more than other players who've left in recent memory. Treacy and Amiss are young but we need to make changes there, it's probably time to debut Simpson or Delean and get games into them.

Our midfield and backline are tracking fine, and Darcy will help the ruck. Just need to fix the forward shambles and we'll start experiencing a tad more success.

Did I miss something? Did Johnson come out and state “I am the next David Mundy”?

Or did supporters set that unrealistic expectation for him and are now upset he doesn’t live up to it?

He is badly out of form and showing none of the traits he had last season. Nothing to do with Mundy. He just needs to get back to what he was doing in 2023, and maybe a stint at Peel helps that happen.

Lots of calls one could have a beef with.

But facts… that Hewett kick took a HUGE deviation off Aish. Touched all day long. Saw it live and couldn’t believe it was paid a mark.

What do you do? I’m glad it fell our way. It hasn’t plenty of times.

Dockers controlled style and pace of game the vast majority and will win plenty more than they lose because of it.

After hours of cursing, I’m actually okay with that loss.

Blah blah it’s the loss we had to have.

Here’s why, if we scrapped home we’d all be in a massive mutual soggy sao right now (what Carlton are doing).

Truth, neither team really deserved to WIN that game.

Freo absolutely had the chance to ice Carlton multiple times and we didn’t - that’s on us.

Carlton didn’t win that one, we lost it.

We need to learn how to win. How to bury shit sides like Carlton.

I’m very happy though, we’re certainly building a premiership side.

Who, having calmed down a bit and maybe started thinking it’s not too bad being umpired out of a victory against the AFL’s anointed ones, wants to revive the blind ****ing hate?

I think it was dissent… it made our job a little bit easier in the middle instead of scrambling - you take them ones when you can,” Cripps said with a smile on his face.

Mundy himself endorsed the comparison, though he definitely wasn't the first to make that comparison. Lee Spurr said something like that also? He was compared to Pendles as well in his draft year, but then again everyone gets unrealistic comparisons in their draft year.

Sorry for the intrusion, I know its not a pity party, and I'm not pretending I love the Dockers, but such a travesty what happened today. You guys didn't deserve that. I will admit I was in two minds before today but I honestly wish the Dockers well for 2024. I felt Collingwood got a lot of these decisions go their way last year, not to get too tin foil hat, but they do like their Victorian fairytale stories. It's been nearly 30 years since Carlton won the gf, they're apparently 'due.' F**k em I say, they don't deserve it.

Onto the positives, but was pretty impressed with the why Freo played today overall. Carlton are overrated. Could win it all - I think Freo could - but not in my top 4.

Positives:

* How good was Sharp?!? Was one of our best today! Incredible pick up

* Pearce and Ryan will get getting AA jackets if they keep this form up

* Clark is having a career best year, his 1 on 1 defending is great, criminally underrated.

* Midfield has lifted. We bossed them today and we didn’t have to rely on one player. Even spread.

* Were executing our game plan really well. Our discipline in defence is elite and our ability to adapt on the fly is really mature for such a young team.

Overall, a tough loss! Lots of things we can learn from. Blues supporters carrying on like they won instead of us throwing it away will make it all the sweater when we knock them out of finals this year!

Taking the umpires and their terrible decisions out of it for a minute.

Freo up by 8 points with 4:20 to go, lose by 10 points. Geelong up by 8 points with 4:20 to go. Win by 4 points. Hopefully we learnt from today’s result

We win by four points too if the umps don't screw us...

I'm not glad Clark did that. I'm filthy at him for doing that. That's not tough mate, that's selfish.

Pearce needs to pull him aside and let him know that rubbish can never happen again
Luke already did, immediately. We were already cooked I’d argue but we could have got one out of the middle, maybe.

Saw a clip of James Brayshaw and Richo talking about the ending and unlike others they pointed about some dubious decisions at the end

The unpaid mark on wing that would of seen a foray in our fwd line

Touched ball by few of the players, which every player around the contest knew

Dissent shouldn't have been paid based on the game

Feel sorry for his baby. Must be traumatic entering this world and the first thing you see is that mug.
