McGovern wanted length of tenure, not so much a truck load of money. He wanted job security for a young family. You don't think Pat_Footy that the club allowed him the time off, or that he asked for it before just not returning?
I'm sure they have but Gaff isn't injured and WCE are in preparations for finals.... Gaff is still being paid by the club and should be assisting the youth in WA. He assaults someone off the door (lucky he isn't charged) and then leaves the state without any intention of returning. These are not actions of someone that has any intention of signing an extension.
Ease up mate.. his father fell ill and had major surgery. Obviously he has stayed over longer for family reasons.

I think you're being a little archaic in your thinking. In an article from the Eagles web site, I believe, they had the intention of having him coach the young players. This plan then changed once his father went in for heart surgery. All good, even if he leaves, from the club's point of view, I believe.

What actions? Are you actually suggesting the hit on Brayshaw showed his intention to leave the Eagles???
Or is your whole argument him leaving the state without any intention of returning?? How the hell do you know what his intention was? He is currently still in Vic with his sick father, something nobody anticipated... how you can read anything into that, apart from the blindingly obvious is beyond me.
Out of curiosity do you guys think Gaff stays or goes? I’d love him at essendon. But Gaff and West Coast in the same sentence sounds right. I cannot picture him at another club.

There are 11 pages preceding your question discussing exactly this. I don't think you will get any new info, just more completely uninformed guesses (lets face it that's all any of us can do).

I think he is more likely to stay after the hit than before. He owes the club after the brain fade.
I think he's gone.
If he was staying they would have announced it by now. The fact nothing has been mentioned on the topic, by Gaff, the club or Gaff's manager, suggests to me he has told the club and everyone is keeping tight lipped so the team can concentrate on the finals.
He obviously can't legally sign a contract yet, which explains the rumours about various clubs.
My "guess" is to Essendon if he does go.

If we can’t pay him what North are offering then he doesn’t owe the club anything. If we genuinely match North’s offer then you could argue that point. Even then, it’s difficult to say he owes us. Unfortunately we can’t match $1.2mill so he should feel free to go.

Loyalty is still a thing in football so hes going have to weight that up against any money on offer.
Also, he has mentioned the chance of success being a factor in the decision. I'm guessing he will still leave.
