These goals were pretty special, especially the one against Brisbane. Was at that game and it was cold, wet and windy, and that kick was into the wind too. Sensational.

Much respect to Gaz. Played his heart out for us. Was collosal in many games including 2007 PF, 2008 GF and 2010 PF. Took no. 1 tagger from opposition every week just about from 2007 to 2010 when he left. One of the best ever to wear the hoops.

I must admit I tried to hate him when he first shifted to the Gold Coast mainly due to the manner in which he departed, coupled with the fact that we'd also just lost Thompson and been embarrassed in the 2010 prelim; I thought it was the beginning of the slide for Geelong and Ablett was the perfect scapegoat.

That lasted only a few weeks into his first season there though - to hate Ablett would be to deny myself the enjoyment of watching one of the best players I've ever seen. The fact that he has been able to continue to play at such a ridiculously high level, even when surrounded by kids during Gold Coast's formative years, is testament to how bloody good he is and has been.

Looking forward to seeing the best starting midfield of all time next year.

I said at the time that he would diminish as a player because he wouldn't have Joel Corey, Selwood and other very strong bodied player to protect him from the physical attacks he would receive. How wrong I was. If anything he rose to a new level of mastery; he became a grand-master.
