Review Geelong + Chris Scott make another Prelim at Ports expense

This finals series could be the making of Holmes, he played like a superstar tonight!

Shoutout to Mullin too, looked like he belonged, just hope the knee is ok!

The youngsters in general were awesome. Humphries, it should be illegal to be that composed and that efficient at 10 games. I loved that when they made a stuff up they almost immediately made amends.

Mannagh must just be so happy right now! Has taken his opportunity and run!

You can run?

Not as good as I used to as I’m now over 30 and been playing footy for 25 years.
Still have pace but back when I was younger used to blitz a lot of blokes playing down the wing and out of the middle. Did pretty well in sprinting and endurance events for representative levels.

Have to play a bit more conservative now or calves/hammies won’t hold up. Modelled a lot of my newer style play on Mitch Duncan and Robbie Gray and less like James Kelly or even his doppelgänger Max Holmes

But point still stands, Max wants to RUN and when you have to bounce and you’re going that fast it’s easier to bounce a lot to keep your momentum going and also not get pinged for running to far.
It’s more of a habit thing than anything else. Probably not the best habit as you’re taught to run your length then bounce so you can steady.

Sweet is a spud it doesnt mean much.
But that said the fact that stanley looked like he was covering the ground well with his bad knee is great. Looked like he might have 2 games left in the body and with a likely briggs or grundy for the prelim we will need him to.
Yeah I absolutely do not rate sweet but this was just extracting the urine

Stewart obviously had a mystery hammy but if hes fit he plays.
And sdk will play after another week in the vfl to get minutes up.
Hawkins and guthrie wont come back in i dont think too risky.

Mullin bews and tuohy would be the 3 to drop out.
Mannagh ended rohans geelong career tonight albeit rohan has been good for us for a long time.
I would think if anyone was getting dropped for Rohan its likely OHenry, Mannagh and Rohan aren't really the same role anymore. Henry was good making contests with Bergman being a very good defender for Port and their best outlet.

But Henry brought the ball to ground, crumbed a goal, missed a snap he should have gotten, 2nd highest marks i50 behind Neale for the match, there was a lot to like. If Henry had converted those 2 behinds and kicked 3.0 and not 1.2 we would be talking up how Rohan is in real trouble.

Henry just needs to be a bit more clinical with his finishing, he isn't getting as many looks as he was last year hence the drop off in out put and if he has a poor PF it opens the door for Rohan in the GF.

Mullin will be last in first out as good as he was.
There was one passage, I forget when exactly, where Mullin had to come off his man to intercept an entry to I think Georgiades?

It stuck in my mind because he's not hugely experienced but he actually read the play correctly and left his man, had a slight hesitation, then just didn't quite get there in time.

It didn't come off that play, but I think he had the right instincts, he just needs some coaching.

I wonder if our good troll ClintEastwood has come down from his smugness from the past 24 hours. Win flags let alone pre-lims before you come onto oppo boards and bait! #CampaignerView attachment 2102080

Did the cats kick twenty goals or only nineteen ?" Well to tell you the truth in all this excitement I kinda lost track myself. But being this Cats 2024 team, the most powerful side in the world and would blow your head clean off, you've gotta ask yourself one question: "Do I feel lucky?" Well, do ya, punk?

+ Close.

I tried for ''the Flea Circus'' but it never caught on around these parts

To elucidate further; the Winning Carlton teams of the late 70s and early 80s famously deployed a ''Mosquito Fleet''; a handful of small, skillful small forwards/mids who played a big part in a couple of their flags ...

I reckon our 2022 small forwards had a similar impact, and with Mannagh now offering yet another facet to this increasingly potent set-up - well; we're set to validate that type of forward set-up further.

That was just a pure Masterclass from the coaching group and the players.
Someone said spiflocation - awesome description 👍
We know how to play finals footy - we exerted pressure and didn’t bite off too much - we were clinical , quick and kept momentum going forward.
Loved our balance between kicking long into F50 to a contest but also lowering our eyes- haven’t seen that for a while
Could have been 119 had we kicked straight.
In the box seat now for another shot at at the big dance - I ****ing love this amazing Club❤️
