Random question - why wasn't Zuth credited with a goal assist after Blicavs kicked his goal in the last quarter?

Here's the definition for a goal assist

GOAL ASSISTCreating a goal by getting the ball to a teammate either via a disposal, knock-on, ground kick or hitout, or by winning a free kick before the advantage is paid to the goal scorer.

As seen in the clip below (second slide), it's clear that Zuth is the player to kick the ball inside 50 with Blicavs marking the ball before going back and kicking truly

Curious as to why no goal assist recorded in this situation is all

Seems to me someone stuffed up because that should be one any day of the week

HOLMAN PLEADS NOT GUILTY
The Nick Holman hearing is underway.
His counsel will argue the tackle on Mitch Duncan was not careless.
They say it is not a dangerous tackle and within the rules of the game.

HOLMAN 'NOT AT FAULT'
Holman's lawyer has gone through a series of five photographs to illustrate his client did nothing in his tackling action to cause the injury to Duncan.
He argues the tackle was in place and then it was the imbalance created by Duncan attemtping to kick that saw the Cats' star brought to ground in an awkward position.

Holy hell.

The AFL is arguing that it is 'the landing' that is the problem, not the intial tackle. They're suggesting that Holman could've defied physics and velocity in a couple of microseconds with a couple of moves that would've freed Duncan and protected him.

These guys shouldn't be allowed to view slow motion. It cripples tbeir ability to think.

Can someone please point out the second action in the tackle

SECOND MOVEMENT?
AFL counsel Jeff Gleeson is arguing there is a second movement in Holman's tackle that makes it dangerous.

After pinning the midfielder and preventing an effective kick, Gleeson then suggests "it is open to you to conclude that it is the rest of the tackle that is the problem".

He argues there "is an element of him being driven into the ground" and it was possible not to exacerbate the impact and release Duncan's arm.

It was a tackle of a "inherently dangerous kind" and it was "the landing that is important", not the initial tackling action.

He says more could have been done to prevent an injury to Duncan.

It's amusing how they view slow motion footage frame by frame, and think that the human mind and ability to react is synchronised in real time.

Took 30 or so minutes of deliberation, but the jury came to the following decision

A LEGAL TACKLE
Holman has been cleared of his dangerous tackle charge. they have found Holman acted reasonably and was not careless. The charge has been dismissed.

The game was at a significant crossroad with this case and its outcome imo.

Relieved with that decision.

His not a young midfielder his 23 years of age. Should be hitting his straps and best years of his career.

If he puts in 10-12 touch games in the middle with no defensive effort then he will rightfully be dropped
Your comment just demonstrates how impatient the modern supporter is.

Correct decision thank fu**
No it it is not. Watching it in real time the tackler did nothing to prevent a head clash to the ground. He didn't pull him back or make any attempt to roll him,but chose to ride him into the ground with the tackled having only one arm to protect himself. Other players have been suspended for less.

I have to disagree.

He was moving considerably faster than Duncan just so he could catch him, and it'd defy physics for him to instantaneously pull him back on contact.

it more demonstrates how good and deep a midfield we have. We are not Gold Coast or north Melbourne. If you don’t perform in our engine room your out. We can’t carry people or be patient when we are aiming for a flag.
Except narkle can play through the foward line where we don’t have a lot of small talent. Dalhaus, miers, close, Evan’s is not a great list. Narkle can be a contributer there if they ever give him a go.

Since when can Narkle play forward?

He's kicked 1 goal since the start of 2020 - that's 10 games played for the return of 1 goal

He's a out right midfielder and that's why he's played in the midfield and not as a small forward because he's just doesn't impact games up forward in the same manner he does when in the midfield

when Has he showed craft as a forward??
im very keen to see how narkle goes this week against a much better midfield in adams pendlebury side bottom etc. Gold Coast have one of the worst midfields in the AFL. If he puts in a shit one this weekend and can’t match it with quality AFL midfielders, then being dropped shouldn’t be an issue at all.

we are trying to win a flag, not groom players in our engine room.

Steve Hocking pulling some more strings.

Physical contact is definitely being removed from the game.
The AFL couldn't give two shits about physical contact, that's not the issue.

The issue is the fact that you'll end up with 100 blokes a year dying from CTE and all the lawsuits that come with it. There's no cure for that, and AFL players should know that playing footy (at any level) which most likely induce it. Still worksafe etc. comes into play so the AFL has to appear to be protecting the head even though they can't really do stuff all about it.

Maybe sports around the world should stop in the next 2-5 years and we all focus on which countries make it first to neighboring planets in our solar system.
