The Champion Data guy on SEN Tuesday night basically said that our ball use by foot, all over the ground, is completely shithouse over the last month or so. As in, hasn't been close to this bad in all the Chris Scott years (tbf when we played the possession game you'd want to have high efficiency). Said that going forward, unless Gryan has the pill then fagedaboudit.

I've noticed it. We picked off the risky diagonals last year no problemo. This year we get clear and still turn it over from half back at times.

Let's fix it cats!

I don't think we learn too much with selection tonight do we? I think they announce a 26 man squad given Sunday game.

Expect that will largely be last week including emergencies (although reckon Knevitt comes into 26 if they announce the outs).

Again, don't know if we see it tonight...but my meat tray...

Out: Smith, Bews (both managed)
In: Mullin, MOC

Think Bowes might be sub 3 weeks in a row.

Although they could reward Dempsey or Knevitt with a sub role (and Bowes either goes in for another player rested - Kolo?...or plays VFL)

We will have the three Irish boys celebrate an historic achievement.

Shame for Knevitt and Dempsey but I don't see them getting back into the 22 this year unless an injury (to a person that they can replace) or Cats fall off the wagon and "give up" (can't see that happening). I think we will keep backing the best 23 and only manage one a week and hope that they can come right for a crack at the end.

I would love to see both Dempsey and Knevitt come in for North Melbourne and rest a couple more players - but don't think it will happen.
It worries me how often you are right about selection and don’t have Cameron in here. 😡

Shoulder problem is worse than the club is letting on perhaps.

Regarding Bowes & sub - do you mean Bowes won't be selected this week after being the sub the last 3 weeks or he will be for the fourth week in a row?

He's been the sub each week since we've returned from the bye

That would be consistent with our luck with injuries this year.
Yep. Plus it is north…so being conservative.

My understanding is that it was never really in the frame for him to return this week…. But it isn’t a concern - just no need to rush the shoulder…given the opposition

Ha…I missed a week. He already has been sub 3 weeks in a row. Is that a record? Maybe not. 4 would be unusual I would think.

It is funny as I don’t actually see him as a natural sub. I get he is versatile so that is a tick…but he isn’t a high impact player. Reckon he needs time to get into the game.

Anyway, given last week he came on in the last qtr (the two prior weeks he got more time) my bet is they look to get him a full game. Either in AFL (if they rest a third player) or in VFL.

Dempsey or Knevitt to be sub (if my guess about Oisin is right - he is in 22)

100% agree - I mentioned it the other week after he was sub against Port that I didn't think either him or Parfitt were ideal sub options as neither are high impact players, and more accumulators

We know Clark is currently unavailable, but the two guys I think have had the biggest impact as sub when they've come on have been Rohan against the Suns & O. Henry a week later against Hawthorn. Knevitt is the other one who's gone ok when he's come on as our sub

The player I'd like to see tried as sub is Mullin - I know he's only played a few games, but with his pace & willingness to attack the ball, I feel like he's one who if he was to come on as sub wouldn't take long to get going and could have an impact pretty quickly. Even if that impact is his attack towards the opposition as much as with the ball

Our entire game plan last year was actually quite revolutionary..... in the sense most teams were trying to defend and lock the ball inside fify, where as geelong decided to change that.

We decided that we would let opposition transition it out of our forward half, and focus heavily on defending from C-HBF area, and then have an open field to stream and run the ball into efficiently without congestion, as opposed to pressuring the ball over in our forward half and booting it into a congested forward half getting nowhere.

This game plan tore some sides apart in often 10-15 minute blocks of footy before some arm wrestles occured... but it generally got most sides for periods they couldn't recover from.

Collingwood i feel had a similar game plan to us, but with a much higher press focused on the entire middle of the ground and left some looks over the back and still do if you are fluent enough and have the players to penetrate it.

This year teams are all doing the same thing, and are now consciously trying to move the ball at angles through the middle and get that precise or long kick inside fifty and preventing us from creating that HBF turnover. That seems to be the focus with playing geelong, do not let us create C-HB turnovers and hit up and change angles through the middle to avoid this.

You watching & reading thy same thing I am... Your posts are about 10 seconds ahead of mine 😂
I have a feeling Jeremy cameron has been carrying something... and my gut feel would be tendonitis if i had to take a stab at it.

something has not been right about him his last month of footy.

the extra week will probably be good

You would assume Miers, Blicavs and Bruhn are certainties from our extended bench barring any injury.

So final spot and sub from Knevitt, Mullin, Dempsey, Menegola and Parfitt.

Hope Mullin gets a run in Tuohy’s milestone, and great to see Menegola close to a senior return.

Looking at that interchange Gola and Parfitt to miss and Knevitt or Mullin as sub would be my play.

Is "adductor" the new "managed" - third week in a row we've had a player miss due to an adductor issue but so far the first two have been available the following week:

Mark O'Connor is set to return to Geelong's line-up for Sunday's clash with North Melbourne at GMHBA Stadium.

O'Connor was a late withdrawal in last week's clash with Sydney, but has been named in the Cats' squad as they prepare to celebrate fellow Irish star Zach Tuohy's record-breaking game.

Tuohy will play his 265th AFL match - the most games by an Irish-born player in VFL/AFL history.

Jed Bews (knee) and Jake Kolodjashnij (adductor) will miss the game, but both are expected to be available next week, while Isaac Smith is being managed.

Jeremy Cameron (concussion) has been ruled out medically for Sunday's game, but got through training on Thursday and is expected to be available for next week's clash.

Geelong will name its final team on Friday evening, with the substitute to be confirmed one hour prior to the match on Sunday.
