Do we have a coach killer list?*
snow white lol GIF

*Probably not quite the Geelong way

Thank you TC. Am hoping my floccinaucinihilipilification of Port has a serendipitous result, as there are more perspicacious posters than I. A mellifluous win, is my hope.

Speculating VFL players will leave if not given opportunities in AFL is premature. We're 7-1, still in the early part of the season. Melbourne was a reality check. Port game is a chance for a good win at KP. At this stage of the season, we're playing for finals + with high hope for, another tilt at a Premiership. We have older players approaching retirement. Why would kittens leave, when many are about one or two years away in development from AFL level?

Suns next week in Darwin is a sticky one, 32°C daytime maximum temperatures in the shade with an average 10 hours of sunshine per day. Purely looking at the weather, looks good for Suns. Draining for older players, who have played every match? An opportunity to play resilient kittens, perhaps. Placate me with facts + wisdom my :hearteyecat: aficionados.
There was was a stat a few years ago about Chris Scott killing the most coaches in afl history, or out might have just been Geelong since 2000.

Stewart into the midfield, something the club was talking about anyway, given the absence of Dangerfield and possibly Bruhn. Then one of O'Sullivan, Jeka, or Humphries to move into the now-vacant defensive position.
The club has been taking about it, I just assume the club is lying

Thought they might have considered pulling the Stewart lever last week given Danger’s absence.
I wouldn’t mind at least getting a feel for this look at some stage; Zuthrie has demonstrated he is capable of filling in for Stewart to pretty good effect.
I thought Scott like a few players weren't at their best against Melbourne there were things that could have been tried but can't blame him I suppose sticking to what had us top of the ladder.

This happened to him last year at about round 8 or 9. He went from the league MVP to someone that was very erratic with kicking and decision making. Especially in front of goals. I'm not going to worry unless it turns into a slump as anyone can have a bad day at the office. If it does drag on, we are obviously in trouble. He is a difference maker and when he is executing his skills properly we have won half the battle against opposition.
This happened to him last year as well.

Bruhn seems fine in our Youtube star's VLOG.
Even though he's listed as "test" I'd imagine he'll be good to go.

Unless someone wants to tell me this was from last week? It seems like it was done this week?

Jezza's Farm with Dempsey and Bruhn
By the way Farm live looks like fun the way Jezza portrays it!! Not sure the younger boys will be the next to buy a farm though - better footy skills!

I was gonna say that too... If Bruhn doesn't get up, then put Humphries into defence, and send Stewart to the midfield for stints. I think Humphries can play wing also, so they can mix it up.

The only thing is, they might play Mullin ahead of him, mostly because he is a profile name. A bit like how Clark is getting games, mostly for development and potential, rather than being best 22 atm imho.

Political correctness is ok but sometimes goes too far. In players particulars weight is no longer given. Players are rated medium defender, medium forward but there is no such thing as small defender, small forward. Only two categories, medium defender/forward or Key defender/forward. Tyson Stengle at 175cm is a medium forward. Jake Kolodjashnij at 193cm is a medium defender. Hawthorn's Nick "The Wizard" Watson at 170cm is shown as medium forward.

All i am gonna say is.
Tom Stewart isn't a midfielder.
He is a great interceptor, a reader of the play and our QB in the back half which for me doesn't translate into a midfielder nor indeed a forward or winger.
Leave the best defender in his natural habitat.
I think it could be a worse case short term fix should there be a need to fill in a spot as Zuthrie can slot into Stewart’s roles down back as he has shown in the past.

I wouldn’t be comfortable having that for long term and I don’t think he would be brilliant in the role but he could cover it for a short period imo

Yes, his defensive midfield work across the game is excellent usually. He gets smashed up enough but able to take oppos best forward and see incoming ball, rather than have extra responsibility at centre bounce.
I don't know where that rumour started unless it was Scott playing ducks and drakes, but why meddle with a good thing.

Hawkins interview, describing lack of goals as a "speed hump":

Friday night, Tommy plays to equal Selwood's 355th game record for Geelong

Press conference with Hawkins:

I like his appearance with Wheatley, putting on him the too old question. Basically he alluded to playing a role in a different way to usual, but wants to do better- says his key attributes still the same according to the data ( I wouldn't boast about the slow running, but anyway, the same) and to remember the fantastic defenders that took him two weeks in a row.
Fair enough

Who's doing this categorisation - Champion Data or something?

Have to agree with you about the weight thing - even as a bleeding heart inner city lefty, it's ridiculous.

I don't really care about the weight categorisations, they're mostly made up. I believe it was the AFL players association that wanted them gone.

Their player type should be more based off how they play rather than their size. Players get assigned a player position for each year by CD but we know that positions are much more fluid from game to game perspective, and from contest to contest perspective.

But in general the positions on the website breakdown into Key position v non-key position, midfielders and ruckmen

From the CD website

Key Forward: Is a taller player who can take contested marks and is usually one of the focal points inside 50
Key Defender: Usually a tall or mid-sized defender who plays on the opposition’s key forward

I've highlighted the parts I think are most relevant in the definitions.

The Key Forward is a primary target for marking purposes, a Key Defender is one who attempts to stop Key Forwards.

As much as I love a good coach killing game, let's not end Ken's career at Port this week. Seeing them suffer under his reign of intense mediocrity makes me feel so warm and giddy. Sign him up for another decade, Port!
