I'm sure Nankervis Brothers got the same impression of you when you started calling children's books upon him.

I also should point out the irony of your picture books comment. With your grammar, I'd fully expect the same from you.

When you and your forum e-buddy finish giving each other reach-arounds, maybe stop taking message boards so seriously.

Oh, and I appropriately capitalised letters in this post where appropriate, just for you. You can breathe again.

Let's try and stay on topic.

I rate both the blues and eagles... but I would have preferred to play the eagles over the blues simply because of the travel factor.

In the week to come and weeks past, Eagles have had to:

1. Fly to Melbourne to play a high intensity QF at the MCG in week 1 against the Pies.

2. Fly back to Perth to play a high intensity semi in week 2 against the Blues.

3. Fly back to Melbourne to face a fresh Geelong in top form, who have had 2 weeks off in the last 5 weeks (Rnd 22 bye and this week) in another high intensity final.

It would be a monumental effort if the Eagles can bring the level of intensity required to compete, purely due to the fatigue factor, let alone pull off a win.

Great effort by the Eagles this year to make a prelim, but unfortunately the finals draw is very unkind to interstate teams who don't finish top 2. At a neutral ground with both teams fresh, I have no doubt the eagles can match it with the cats, but under these circumstances, I can't see it happening.

Agree 100%. My heart says we have a chance, but Geelong will be fresh and we have to travel after an intense match. I don't see how we'll be able to match them. I think Geelong will get up by about 40 pts unfortunately. I'll be very happy to be proven wrong though.

I can't see us getting up after last nights game. If we can compete like we did against the Pies, that will give us a chance however.

Either way, I will be supporting whoever wins this game in the GF

Go Eagles!

Here's another interesting fact:

Joel Selwood hasn't lost a game against one (or more) of his brothers. (He was out suspended in Round 16, and Troy wasn't playing when the Lions beat us in 2009.)

Lucky we're playing at the MCG, where we're currently undefeated this season then, isn't it?

Oh yes, we are well aware of how lucky Geelong is to be playing at the MCG. Very aware of the advantages for Geelong only travelling 6 times this year compared with 10 and being able to play 6 games on the GF ground MCG when Eagles have only played there once this year outside of finals. Yes, we are definitely aware of the inequity of it all!

really?

geelong fans reckon they are going to thrash the eagles (which has only happened once all year)
some eagles fans reckon they are a chance (which considering they have beaten geelong this year and pushed collingwood last week suggests they are) but most think it will be a loss

and you reckon the eagles fans are arrogant?

seems to me its geelong supporters who are giving a top 4 side no respect, and acting like arrogant twats

Seems you're judging all of the Geelong fans by what a couple of arrogant supporters have said. Take it easy. It's just an opinion.

Last time we played, we had to travel across the country on a six day break during the middle of a heavy training load to play an Eagles side coming off the bye with no Hawkins, West, Mackie and Selwood, and only lost by eight points.

If you couldn't beat us by 25 points then, I can't see you beating a rested Geelong side with that quartet on this side of the country by that much now.

Are Geelong the only team in the history of the AFL to have these 'heavy training loads'? you also used the very same excuse when Sydney beat you, all top 8 teams have those heavy training loads, the timing of these wouldn't differ that much, so please stop using that excuse, or else i will say our 2 loses to you this year just happened to coincide with our heavy training loads. ;)

If Cats get the run with the Umpires the Eagles get at Subi Cats by 100 points. If not by 5 or 6 goals.

Oh dear, did you watch the right game. Perhaps you might like to watch, in particular, the first quarter. At the end of the day, if an umpire is making bad calls; as long as he is consistent with it to both teams, it doesn't bother me. It's when it's inconsistent across teams that makes my blood boil. If anything the umpiring inthe first quarter was crazily favouring Carlton after which the umpiring seemed to be more even.

When you and your forum e-buddy finish giving each other reach-arounds,
Have never talked to/replied to Nankervis Brothers. Ever considered that maybe I'm supporting him because I think he's right? Is that too hard to handle?

maybe stop taking message boards so seriously.
If your reply to NB about GIFs re: the picture books was a joke, take your sense of humor to Bay 13. I can give you the link if you want.

Oh, and I appropriately capitalised letters in this post where appropriate, just for you. You can breathe again.

Couldn't care less. I just pointed out the irony of your statement. I didn't say I had a problem with it

Settle down drug-gos, you've just avoided your second wooden spoon, you should be happy with that effort:thumbsu:

You seem to be living in a bubble - I'm certain every AFL team have players that use or deal drugs. It doesn't make it right, but I wouldn't be throwing those accusations around so lightly.
Dare I mention the news report that alleges one of your own - Mathew Stokes - was charged with drug related charges.

What's the point of bringing up other teams and their training loads? Have they not lost a game during one?

I personally think we were in a form slump at the time.

you also used the very same excuse when Sydney beat you,
Makes sense. We were heading into finals.

No one cares if you use that as an excuse. There are only so many anyway.

I don't know any teams that have a heavy training load in May. To use that as an excuse would be laughable.

I think it will be another close match.

I think our defence will have there fowards covered, except for maybe SJ.

Same with there defence, they should be able to cover our talls, but may struggle with the lecras and nickoski match up's.

Geelong have a better midfield, but Natia and Cox have great records against Ottens, so that could help to even up the midfield match up.

I would like us to consider bringing in a Ham's he seems to like playing Geelong, has a good record against them and maybe Ash Smith with his pace.

Especially with a few sore boys those two might be smart selections.

Beau Waters looked banged up after the game, and Sam Butler looked like his hamstring might of worried him.

Nice deflection, but the Mathew Stokes issue was already brought up in this thread. Apparently he was charged because of a friend's wrongdoings and the media changed the story a bit.

We will literally skin them alive....literally!

Oh if only, hard to predict but its not all bad. oh well, good excuse to upgrade the tv if a rogue remote happens to find itself flying at it....that is of course it turns into a ugly mess, one hopes not. Tough to follow up last night performance really, this year seems like a dream, still trying to get my head around the fact we finished so well...

I do hope its close though!

Minimum. I reckon the cats will have it sewn up by half time.

Cats by 60 points.

geel are going to massacre west coast. about 16 hours prior to this massacre commencing, the pies will have completed their demolition of the hawks. and we will be all set for the GF that really has looked a foregone conclusion since mid season. neither of the underdogs has a sniff next week

So pretty sure it was guys like you predicting Pies by 80 by half time last week?

So tell us, have you been able to get that skid mark stain out of your jocks you wore during the Pies / Eagles final?;)

Geelong will be favourites and rightly so, last nights game was a bruising affair and we will be carry quite a few tired bodies into next weeks game.

A flogging by Geelong, I think we will do better than that, 4-5 goals win by Geelong? Not unlikely.

A win by the Eagles? Would be an absolutely astounding result.

So rapt with the lads, fighting to the last, really showing a massive work ethic, have the talls to cause problems and have the hunger. They have already out performed all expectations, next week is just another game no one expected us to be even playing let along win.:thumbsu:

Not a deflection at all, just the truth! As far as it being brought up already, it was relevant to my point so it didn't matter whether it was raised previously or not. I don't have time to be reading every single post anyway.
I don't know what news article you are referring to, as the one I recall stated he pleaded guilty for possession and a deal was struck between lawyers to drop the charge of trafficking.
Aside from that, you missed my point - he was just an example of the culture of what lies in every football club to highlight my point that if someone is going to accuse a particular club of being druggies, then it's a bit hypocritical.

Will have to disagree. We have too many options up forward. We can bring in Bartel, Chapman, Johnson, Stokes, West, Varcoe, Selwood, Kelly, Corey, Ling, any of the youngsters, etc if Hawkins and Pods fail us. However I think Hawkins can get past any of your defenders, as his size and strength is unbelievable.

Same with there defence, they should be able to cover our talls, but may struggle with the lecras and nickoski match up's.
We have a few midfielders and forwards like Selwood, Bartel, Kelly and Corey who can defend well, if we need a faster option. Ling could do the job too, though I'd think he'd do the job on Priddis or Kerr.

Geelong have a better midfield, but Natia and Cox have great records against Ottens, so that could help to even up the midfield match up.
First off, you guys call him Natia?

Second of all, Ottens is Mr September. I doubt they will dominate as much as usual.

Thirdly, have you forgotten about West? He's good.

Other than all that, I reckon it will be a close match, but a fourth quarter burst will save us. Good luck to both teams:thumbsu:

Joel Corey won't play. 774 just said he hasn't recovered from his injury & they believe he had surgery on his foot, rather than the groin injury that is being reported.

Geelong's tactic of bombing it in long may have worked against Hawthorn but Glass, McKenzie, Schofield will eat that tactic up.

Wouldn't believe that even though the rumour has been going around. Corey has trained since and has just been on a modified program. He has great aerobic capacity but if he is hindered with the groin than that will be a problem....i would back in Chris Scott's word at this stage....he has been very forthright with everything else thus far so i doubt he would tell porkies about corey, there would be no point it!

I agree about the long kicking with WCE, they use there talls more as cover to hold the press in place and prevent that very tactic. However, we saw Carlton cut them up quite a few times with play on tactics through the middle. We still specialise in this gamestyle and we are fortunate to have developed a few extra strings to our bow over the last few years.

WCE are a good side and will be hard at it Saturday. I believe we are a better side, but this gurantees nothing. Will be a cracker....it will be very interesting to see how Otto' goes against Cox and Natinui, i suggest he will be a lot better than rnd 14 .....West is no mug either!

The truth can be a deflection.

As far as it being brought up already, it was relevant to my point so it didn't matter whether it was raised previously or not. I don't have time to be reading every single post anyway.
So? I just said that it was brought up before, and repeated what the person before said. I didn't say there was a problem with you bringing it up again. Cool your jets, you're getting worked up over nothing.

I don't know what news article you are referring to, as the one I recall stated he pleaded guilty for possession and a deal was struck between lawyers to drop the charge of trafficking.
I'm not referring to any article. I was just repeating what the poster before said, re: Stokes. I don't care what Stokes did. It was wrong, and he got his punishment. He's turned away from it and got on with life. I couldn't care less. I would however, be angry if he did it again.

Aside from that, you missed my point - he was just an example of the culture of what lies in every football club to highlight my point that if someone is going to accuse a particular club of being druggies, then it's a bit hypocritical.
Agreed. Never said anything for or against it. There's no evidence that I missed the point.

Nice deflection, but the Mathew Stokes issue was already brought up in this thread. Apparently he was charged because of a friend's wrongdoings and the media changed the story a bit.
Not really he got punished by his own leadership group at your club so it clearly was not a media beat up. I just wonder if your thick or haven't been following football in the last 4 years. No druggies here anymore only a team that went from last to top 4 in a year.:thumbsu:

Couldn't care less. I just pointed out the irony of your statement. I didn't say I had a problem with it

OMG the end of a sentence - THERE SHOULD BE A FULL STOP THERE SHOULDN'T THERE?

Quick, someone call the grammar police!
