Just posted this elsewhere, but thought this would be well received here. I am staggered at these statistics by the way, I knew he was playing great footy but I couldn't have possibly imagined that he is playing his BEST football at 34!

Crazy Tomahawk stats for 2022:
These are all Tom Hawkins specific statistics, comparing him to his prior seasons
2nd for total disposals
3rd for total hitouts
3rd for i50's
1st for Goal Assists
1st for 1%'ers
2nd for Marks i50
2nd for Contested Possessions
2nd for Clearances
2nd for Kicks
1st for Scoring Shots

Yes, he may be 34 but there is absolutely no reason that he wouldn't play another two to three years at a minimum. He has not played less than 18 matches in a season since 2008.

Just quietly, Steve Hocking has been CEO for one year and in that year Geelong won the premiership. Not a bad effort!

I'm sure he would pi$$ himself laughing at the conspiracy theories from Richmond supporters. He was given the job of improving AFL as a spectacle and improving scores, which in some games were woefully low. I would think he achieved on both measures.

If these rule changes helped Geelong so much, why did they decide to change their game plan at the start this year? It's a mystery.

Anyway, congrats, SHocking. A completely professional administrator, no matter who he's working for.

I've finally read every page in this thread - thanks to the Geelong board for making it great reading. So very many shared sentiments.

What a day!

Struggled all week trying to secure tickets for my wife & I only to fail. We headed in to the city on Saturday to find a spot to watch it and settled in at Riverland on the Yarra which seemed pretty decent without having to pay entry etc. Had a few pints and was feeling pretty bloody good at half time. Early in the 3rd quarter, my boss a Sydney supporter called and told us to get to the ground ASAP and he'll give us his tickets. So we hightailed over to the ground just as quick as we could.

Got in to the ground at 3QT and took seats in the Olympic stand L1.. honestly, it was surreal. This is actually the second time this has happened to me after finding ourselves in the MCC at half time in 2007 as the seats were occupied by a mate of my brother who were neutrals and saw what was unfolding.

Being able to listen to the chants in the fourth quarter, Selwoods goal.. we moved to near the cheer squad post game to watch the presentations. It was just mindblowing being able to soak it in!

Being 11 years older like the rest of us, the night wasn't a big one this time around but I'll certainly remember it fondly.

I must admit I was definitely pessimistic this year. Took me all year to believe. Isn't amazing the damage some of this can do to the belief - even 42pts up in the prelim I still thought we weren't home and hosed. I thought when we got to about 50pts up in the GF we were there but still, cautious optimism. Having said that though, even the first 10 minutes of the game I felt that Geelong were on and Sydney were not.

My highlights:

* For me, vindication for Chris Scott. Probably in the last couple years I'd been losing the faith. 2020 was a bitter pill knowing in yet another match we were toe to toe with Richmond only to change the style of play to this stupid, protective style that ultimately didn't work for us. This year, particularly from the Richmond game for me, I started to see something that seemed different and Congrats to Chris and whoever else was involved in this turn around. I'm particularly happy in that Chris is no longer "the coach who inherited a flag" but got his own. He can basically now write his own terms for the next few years, surely.

* Of course, Premiership Captain Joel Selwood. He has now cemented his legacy and his emotions either boiled down to this fact or as well that he knows he's about to call it time. I'm 50/50 on whether he will - If the club thinks they can manage the list in 23 with a couple of great new players will managing game time for Joel, Patrick & Tom to prime for another finals tilt, perhaps the allure of back to back might keep Joel around.

* Patrick Dangerfield. Premiership player. We know that was the one thing that he wanted. We know that the media had basically shaped up his career to be defined by this moment (despite being etched in the Brownlow medal winners list). I think most of us all did carry the "He needs a flag to put an exclamation point on his career" thought when it came to PFD. He now puts that to bed.

* Tom Hawkins - 09 I don't think he played a fantastic game but was very much a young buck. (Personal opinion.) 2011 - again, he starred in the way that he got goals and helped us win - but I don't think soccering a couple off the ground was what you would say is defining as a key forward. He had a great GF and is now a premiership God amongst his other accolades in the Geelong Cats FC.

* Blitz, Guth, Stewart, Stanley, Tuohey, Cameron, Duncan (sans Sub!) all premiership players

* All the little things like the Joel & Levi Ablett, the way they carried themselves in the post game celebrations etc, truly honourable club.

Congratulations once again!

To win a flag you must INNOVATE not copy
This year Cats have shown :-
1: Age Shall Not Weary Them.
Which now opens Pandora's box for all teams to recruit veterans
2: you do not turnover youngsters for wishful superstars
Rather assign experts to full develop their potential.
3: Coach must evolve along with his players.
He is a great man who admits to errors and asks for help

Another picture some might want to add to their collection.

That's great! 2022 Premiers!

PFD upstaged by confetti.
Atkins looks like he's posing for a dating app pic.
SDK looks like he's in a horror film and about to get stabbed.
Stengle looking at Norm the way Clive Palmer looks at a cheeseburger.

Exactly what I said on their board, but it just went over their head, as they're too far down the rabbit hole now to admit their world views are objectively incorrect

Speaking of continually winning, just picked this bad boy up - signed by Sel and Hawk, with a piece of the match ball and replica Norm Smith and Premiership Medallion - and am so f*cking excited to have it for the rest of time:

After the September disappointment of the last ten years, was pretty much resigned to the fact the chance of another premiership had passed us by, how wrong could I (thankfully) have been.
The transformation in our game plan has been nothing short of amazing, and to culminate in Saturdays performance was, well, nothing short of amazing I guess.

Too many moments, both during the game and afterwards, to comment on so won't even try, will simply say the whole day was pretty darn satisfying.
