So in the 6 years Cats have polled votes since the Gary Ayres award was introduced in 2016, Dangerfield has finished (amongst Cats players):

-1st (Gary Ayres medallist) in 2021
-1st in 2017
-2nd in 2020
-3rd in 2019
-4th in 2016

2021 he didn't poll, but we only got 2 votes between 2 of the 3 games - to Henry Vs Port. Still thought he was one of our better in the 2 losing games.

I daresay only Joel Selwood is a chance of polling higher over that period. Don't worry though, "terrible in finals" was always going to be the narrative until he starred in a flag winning campaign. Glad that can be binned at last.

I forgot 360 was on, I've hit record for one of the later replays so I can watch the full thing
The interview with Scotty now is the most open and honest I've ever seen him

Good to see a few former players in there celebrating as well. Backs up what Chris Scott was saying about Saturday's win being as much about those who have been at the club and have moved on as those who are currently at the club.

We needed the likes of Kolo and Blicavs to go to the next level in finals and as you get older, it's not that easy but it's quiet amazing how these guys have taken their footy to another level. I, like you Grimoz am so proud of Kolo to see what he has done in the finals. In regards to Blicavs, we know he's won 2 best and fairests but he's a different footballer now, a BETTER footballer and probably the most important player in the side with his incredible versality and running compacity, there's no one like him in the AFL.
Especially after Kolo had his injury and moment of madness in the QF, while Blicavs couldn't stop slipping over. They both responded magnificently and had two excellent follow up games. Absolutely tremendous in Q1 when the heat was on too.

2019 onwards a lot of the guys who copped it for crumbling or being anonymous in finals have been improving in that area. Not in every single game, but their body of work has developed and eventually it very much helped the team become flag winners.

One thing I noticed while watching the replay on Fox this afternoon was when De Koning punched the ground in disgust after giving away a free kick which resulted in a Sydney goal. We were 12 goals up at the time.

He made amends though by slotting a goal himself 3 and a half minutes later.

Also kickazz to further emphasis your point, the McCartin brothers Tom and Paddy are so important to the Swans in how they defend and attack from the backline, they are pivotal to the Swans when they are playing well, so Gary Rohan played a big part defensively but also in a contested manner to stop that from happening and as you say he had a couple of almost moments that would have enabled him to have a even better day, I agree with all your comments in full.
Our whole forward line used to let intercepting (aerial or ground ball) defenders have a field day. Rohan was actually an important recruit to address that and more recently the fleet of smalls. Along with a genuine superstar full of run in Cameron.

There's too much for other teams to handle now, especially when they all push back hard to block space when the opposition get the ball. Pressure on the man with the ball is elite too, hence all of the opposition dump kicks or mistakes. Throw in speed and creativity when we win the ball back - it's pretty much what we were missing to compliment Hawk for almost a decade.

What I got from the inner sanctum video in particular was Tom Atkins' praise for O'Bree, Kelly and Grigg, and Craig Drummond's praise for Steve Hocking.

I actually think Grigg brought a bit of Richmond to the way we played. As Atkins said, Grigg doesn't rate flashy, he wants players to be down and dirty.

And Richmond of course got Caracella from us years before for exactly the same reason - to learn about how GFC does things, which obviously helped them, not that most Richmond supporters would ever acknowledge that.

Anyway, makes it all the more sweet that Grigg was working for us and doing a great job.

SDK is harder on himself than he really needs to be at times - but it shows how much he cares about the game & his performance

He's going to be a great player to watch over the coming decade, just hope he eases up on himself because the good he does far outweighs any errors

It helps some players, particularly defenders, to have that attitude. It's at no danger of harming his self belief but is simply the competitive edge and standard setting that will give him an elite career.

The thing I truly loved about our finals campaign, and even our season as a whole was how we played as a team. A champion team rather than a team of champions. Sure Danger stood up, Hawkins had some great games but so did Rohan, Atkins, Blicavs and Stengle. You could never pick who would be BOG on any given day and the GF was no exception. Who would have had Smith as the NS winner? We play as a team and when its your turn to go, you go.

Also can't get enough of the media, what a great time to be a Cats supporter.
