The AFL is pleased to announce international rock 'n' roll juggernaut KISS will perform during the Telstra Pre-Game Entertainment at the 2023 Toyota AFL Grand Final.

The AFL really needs to grow up and accept that clubs will do whatever is best for their team, introducing a bye week and changing the entire dynamic of the finals system because a few clubs rested players was dumb.

Introducing a bye so clubs wont rest players.
Changing rushed behind rules because a team rushed a heap of points in a GF
Changing the 30 second shot clock rule because players were taking 30 seconds.

Just deal with the fact that you can’t control and shouldn’t control everything.

Was interesting hearing the new GM of Football on the radio the other day, talking about rule changes in the AFLW. Talked about how they'd been doing boundary throw-ins from 10 or 15m inside the boundary to try and get the ball into the corridor more and ease congestion, but that they've been researching scoring trends and found that more goals are scored from stoppages or contests closer to the boundary line when inside 50. Suggested that they're going to look at having throw-ins inside 50 done from the actual boundary because they believe it will put the ball into the "scoring zones" more frequently.

It is very much a result-driven exercise. AFL House see the outcomes they want, and manipulate the rules to try and force those outcomes. 6-6-6, stand, extended goal square, play on from goal square, etc. It's 100% about trying to force the game to be played in the most exciting and attractive way possible.

Last time we saw Gene was just before the carlton v collingwood game last year. Pity that game had to be cancelled (pretty sure as i have no memory of it) .

Would be great at half time of a twilight game or a night game so it will be interesting during the day. I'm sure that there will be some dinosaur commentary but Kiss are an iconic band, sbsolutely iconic.

I have no idea why the AFL keeps insisting on trying to bring overseas artists and get so desperate to get anyone. It devalues the day as a whole.

I would prefer to liken Grand Final day to the FA Cup. There is no fancy entertainment just the basic stuff. The day is about the theatre of the game and build up itself.

Hope one day the AFL will realise we don't need this Super Bowl/NRL crap, the GF can sell itself.

Not really. Meat ignored doctors orders that he shouldn't sing outdoors ever because he wanted the money.

Kiss are still travelling o.k. As I said somewhere else, tens of thousands of people are happy enough to pay hundreds of $ to see them live. 100,000 will be lucky enough to see them as part of their grand final experience. Entertainment is a minor part of the say and obviously a shortcut avenue to fake outrage.

Hopefully Kiss can don the carlton jumpers again as they did previously.
