This is a disturbing story. I'm not sure we have discussed SLD in the crime forum.

'SLD, who was a teenager when he murdered a child on the Central Coast, served 22 years in prison for the crime.
After being released on parole in April 2023, he was taken back into custody six months later for breaching a strict supervision order. The breach occurred when SLD interacted with a woman and her toddler at Bulli Beach near Wollongong, violating conditions prohibiting him from associating with children.'

He was 13 years old when he murdered toddler Courtney Morley-Clarke on the NSW Central Coast in January 2001 by pulling her from her bed in the middle of the night, stabbing her through the heart and leaving her body in long grass.

I didn't know about this, it's frightening and I wonder how he was caught because often these kinds of killers who start young, get away with it when they're in their teens. I've been saying on the William Tyrrell thread for a long time, the only way I could see William went with someone quietly or could have been coaxed, would be by another kid or kids and that the cops should have checked who might have been off school that day.

Also, frightening as I moved away from the area but still have family in Bulli.

An absolute shocker of what appears to be gross negligence by the State of NSW, as per recently released Coroners findings from an earlier this year inquest into the 2020 Torture Death of Simon Cartright in Custody.

Looks like the previous NSW State Government leaders and Ministers Responsible (especially corrections Minister Geoff Lee who is currently a Professor at Western Sydney University's School of Business) need to at least come out and publicly and privately apologise to the Cartright family, not just the current NSW State Government.

Too late to apologise to Simon Cartright's mother, who sadly died before the Deputy State Coroner handed down her findings earlier this month.

“Simon’s death was preventable,” the coroner found. “This inquest highlights that [Corrective Services NSW] is not and should not be placed in a position to care for a mentally ill person.”

'The family is now taking legal action against the NSW government and has called for urgent reform.'

'Cartwright’s family have spent years fighting for answers. They were initially told nothing about the circumstances of his death and buried him without knowing why he had died.'

Horrific, utterly horrific at every level. I guess the perpetrators will face robodebt levels of accountability. I expect the NSW government to settle out of court as it's indefensible.

Added - there is more than a little irony in NSW refusing UN prison inspections, especially when the ex premier says they have the best prison system in the world.

Gee Judge Deborah Sweeney thinks murdering a pregnant woman and putting her remains in an acid bath is ‘mid range’ and has given this animal a chance for parole after 16 years. The system is broken - hope this animal gets taken down in gaol.

What the hell? Call, email, complain. It works.

File this sentence under Crimes Against Humanity.

Victims to meet with Queensland's attorney-general in push to ban character references for sex offenders

Child sexual abuse survivors want to ban the use of good character references for convicted sex offenders in Queensland. In court, people who know the offender can write letters about their good character for the judge or magistrate to consider during sentencing. But, co-founders of the "Your Reference Ain't Relevant" campaign Harrison James and Jarad Grice believe it could re-traumatise child sex abuse victims.

Onya, boys!
There has been a push by the Your Reference Ain't Relevant" Campaign first in NSW then in ACT so now it is Queensland.

The reality is unfortunately the legal system is dependent on giving perpetrators discounts for pleading guilty. I hate it but this is what it is.

I daresay the cops have a lot more information than they are letting on.
Daily Mail Australia can reveal that at the time of her death, Ms Mason was facing a string of charges in the Brisbane Magistrates and Supreme courts.

She had previously been sentenced 18 months in jail after being convicted of drug supply.

A close friend took to social media to pay tribute to her 'jail sister', recalling how they would communicate through prison cell vents during evening lockdowns.

'Rest in peace CeeJay Mason,' the post began. 'We will all miss you so f***ing much my jail sister, fly high huni.'

It would be useful to know who the rogue FB camera seller is in the below.

Where's the deterrent for alleged thieves like this, if they just get let off as reported below?

If the law is as they describe, i would advocate everyone to steal whatever they want, and simply return it if you are busted.
So i call bullshit and he should have been charged.

A taser was mentioned 🤔

They like to keep things under control and peaceful in the big hotels and resorts. At a wedding of about 50 I went to over there, some of the guests had an argument and ended up under house arrest confined in separate rooms with guards posted at the doors.
