George Bailey to be named Australian T20 Captain

Eddiesmith your trolling about White, pretty obvious because no one can justify his selection. Does George deserve it? maybe not but White would be a worse selection

If the selectors didn't want to chose anyone currently playing test cricket, besides marsh and warner, they could have chosen a side a bit like this one

brad hodge
aaron finch
travis birt
mitchell marsh
david hussey
matthew wade
james faulkner
steve o'keefe
nathan coulter nile
brett lee
brad hogg

North has averaged 41.83 for the tournament so far and just led perth to a home final. Obvious captain choice.

Just a quick question - aside from the infamous "word has it" and "general consensus" - what is it that Bailey has done that makes him such a wonderful captain?

Well he has captain a Shield title and a One day title and in the running for both again this year, i think bailey is a very good captain and the people that know alot more than me think so too.

So half a year ago Katich was dumped from the test side, largely based on his age rather than his form. They then pick a fresh out of retirement 40 year, i don't have a problem with this but how does this justify the continual non selection of Brad Hodge as age is no doubt an excuse for him.

WHat about the non selection of form players such as coulter-nile and north or the non-selectioin of CAcontracted smith and o'keefe who are both incumbents

He has received full support of everyone that he captained in the Australia A games in the past. They all claimed that he brought the best out of everyone to turn a team of individuals playing for higher honers, into a proper team.

Also, along with T Coyle, he has turned Tasmanian cricket from potential to a powerhouse.

Anything else required to prove his leadership credentials?

Yes he didn't have an amazing big bash this year, but last year he captained tasmania to a semi final, and was the 5th highest run scorer at a strike rate of 143....

Hodge is never picked because he is an absolute sword of the highest order in the change rooms, pretty much right up there with macgill as a weird **** and self obsessed tosser, Only brad hodge can truly appreciate how good brad hodge is.

Hodge is no Lara or tendulkar so he's not picked, Hogg on the other hand is a team man, great around the younger blokes and loves being apart of a team effort.

Surprised they picked Hogg at his age, his form deserved it but I thought they would be conservative and go with a younger spinner. The fact he is a fairly unique spinner probably helped him, most batsmen have trouble picking him.

North was a bit stiff not to be selected as captain but he has probably been blacklisted by the selectors now like Hodge and Katich. Once a batsman gets dropped from an Australian side in their mid 30s they very rarely make it back.

Inverarity is just Hilditch in drag.

How on earth do you sack White but keep blokes like Haddin in the ODI and Test team. Its just ridiculous. You dont punt captains bc of a bad BBL tournament. If you apply that policy then goodbye Brad Haddin and welcome Matt Wade.

He's been pretty good, better than I thought he'd be to be honest but he has had the luxury of H.Gibbs at the other end in smoking hot form.

Can anyone put up Hodge's BigBash numbers? I honestly haven't followed what he's been doing.

Either one would seem a way better option than Bailey.

As for Cameron White, ROFL. There truly is none so biased as a one-eyed Victorian.

Marcus North must feel pretty hard done by. The best Aussie opener in the Big Bash and captains his team to a home final, when if Bailey was not the captain he wouldn't make the side. But at least they're picking a captain who actually is a captain, unlike the past selection panel's obsession with making Tim Paine captain of t20 and Aussie-A teams.

Gibbs and Shah pretty unlucky also.

Personally, I can't believe we named Bailey, but putting it aside, here's my lineup. Not bad on paper

Aaron Finch
David Warner (vc)
Shaun Marsh
George Bailey (c)
Travis Birt
David Hussey
Daniel Christian
Matthew Wade
Mitchell Marsh
Brad Hogg
Clint Mckay
Brett Lee

Xavier Doherty
James Faulkner

If you're going to bat Mitch Marsh that low, you might as well play Faulkner who's a better bowler. I'd probably have X in for Mckay, but depends moreso on the conditions.
