No Premiership is easy ALL THE PREMIERSHIPS ARE HARD FOUGHT. Who knows what a cakewalk is these days?

I havent taken the word Premiership out of the song. I have taken the cockiness of winning one out.

Forget about the Colliwobbles this is the real jinx on our football club. Someone with higher powers or links to the powers to be, needs to propose this to the board.

While we're on the topic of jinxes, can we wear our white jumper next week?

The last time we wore our white jumper in a GF we won the damn thing. Since then, we have worn the black jumper 3 times without victory.

Wear the white jumper and let the Saints wear their normal strip.

Yes and absolutely none of the changes you mentioned will help any

Superstions etc are a made up vice for those that are not good enough

Its a type of dance! Google it :)
And having done some dancing of my own, no dance is easy to master! It is all about the frame of mind that you are in.
Anyone who thinks that to dance is easy, just ask some of the thousands of people who did not make the cut for So you think you can dance!

I read this thread, then a couple of hours later I was flicking through youtube and watched this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lxdoXwV7iyM
Originally it wasn't cakewalk.. I can't even make out what it was..

"There is just one team we favour" is the line used in that version.

Anyway I've heard that a words meaning can flip over time so that it may come to mean the opposite of what it was originally.

We are doing that to cakewalk.

I think Collingwood have proven that we don't make things easy for ourselves in Grand Finals.

1990 will go down as one of the shocks of all time because of how well we did it then.

Any team that has Peter Daicos in it should be a certainty to win a flag now that I think about it. Historically, aside from Daicos, Collingwood has never really had that 'hero' to win us a flag.

We've never had a player, be it big name or not, that came out of nowhere to take a game over and win it, or even bring us back from the dead. St.Kilda on Saturday had Goddard AND Hayes, Hawthorn in 08 had Dew, Adeliade had Ellen and Jarman, there's almost always someone.

I never understood why we never had that.

we had Maxwell saving us the game its just a shame we dont have anyone in our forward line with his mental toughness.

and we also had bucks who also lifted on the big stage.

Daics only got 8 touches on the big stage in 1990 and two goals.

Bolded the important part.

One of those goals was at a pretty crucial point, and the other was part of the icing.

Think about it. If Leon Davis kicked 2 goals, hell even if Didak had kicked 2 goals on Saturday, we win.

That third quarter especially, was begging for a Collingwood player to stand up and take the game back for us, and we had no one.

This. All based on superstitions my friend. Doesn't matter if we wear our training gear on Saturday, it is totally up to our players to win the game. Theres no jinxes, hexes, or anything like that...but there is karma :). Goddard will be punished for that knee into Balls head, even if he is in the game next week, his influence will be minimal....bookmark it!

No Change please. Then I would have to change my NIC because it wouldn't mean anything.

All superstitions really.

The term "cakewalk" is often used to indicate something that is very easy or effortless.

Also named after a dance, Though the dance itself could be physically demanding, it was generally considered a fun, recreational pastime.

The Cakewalk dance was developed from a "Prize Walk" back in the 1890's

I don't think the folks that wrote the lyrics to the song would have invisaged that after 1958 with 13 flags any additional premierships would be far from a cakewalk.

As it turns out, the premiership is still a cakewalk, so I vote we keep it.
