Heard it’s broken street date a few places round the world. Why can’t that ever happen for me

A mate worked at an old 'GAME' store in Croydon who regularly gave early preorders out a day or 2 before the actual release. Game companies weren't impressed and they had to stop doing it as they got fined too much.

What benefit was there for GAME to do this? Incur a fine just for fulfilling preorders?

Wasn't like they were selling copies to people off the street earlier from what you're saying

It's the principal behind it. If a developer has said "Do not release copies before X date" you need to honour that regardless of pre-orders. EB and other game shops have the game out back days before hand.

Could you picture the ramifications if people streamed it on youtube/FB game pages and slammed it and then people cancelled orders? Companies would lose thousands of dollars

Pre-orders are only to set aside your copy not give you a day or two extra game time ahead of the rest. Hence why they throw in extra gimmick crap like skins/locker codes and shiny models at an additional cost.

Sorry. Dunno why they did it. The guy who ran it didnt really give a stuff. The store was going downhill anyway.

I didn't care as a consumer. Got my Pokemon games early on the DS and preorders like Uncharted a day before everyone else.

So it downloads a 1.2GB patch then downloads a 6.1GB patch both called 1.10 didnt even install the first one and the 2nd one started from scratch didnt even carry over the 1.2gb.
