There are similarities, and at least Fagan knows it. Port and Brisbane are two clubs happy to be consistently in the mix, without actually threatening winning.

This week, though, the similarity is a different one. No one expected Port to win (I tipped Port); and the Lions were supposed to be dead at 3QT. Yet, both won.

Port should have won, better list, Hawks still rebuilding, at home and key Hawk players out. Media was just hyping Hawks up prematurely .

GWS should have won but Brisbane on their day can beat anyone.

The problem for both clubs is consistency, Port has put in its one.effort for the finals and will get crushed by Sydney. Brisbane will probably lose due to inaccuracy.

The long and expensive contracts that we have needed to give to the likes of Conglio, Kelly, Greene and Whitfield are going to be thorns in our side. There is little left to attract in a monetary sense other experienced players that would give that extra edge that would be needed to win a flag.

There is some good signs up forward such as young players like McMullin and Jones that will develop and while I have been a critic of Cadman he has shown some signs late this season.

GWS need to capitalise on where they are at now. Win it with this group in the next 2-3 seasons otherwise it might be back to the drawing board.

GCS, who bloody knows? They are improving but still flaky as. Feel they could potentially be top four next year if they recruit well and iron out a few bugs, but also feel they could as easily be a 9-12 side.

Brisbane had their fair share of good and bad times.

I enjoyed Brisbane's finals run between 1999 until 2004.

Yeah Brisbane had that tough period of 2010 until 2018. They didn't make finals once in that period.

I enjoyed most of Brisbane's 2019 to 2024 finals run. I only wished Brisbane won a flag in either 2020 or 2023

Interesting time to revisit this thread. Given the current circumstances I think you could make a legitimate case for all three clubs in terms of which one will win the premiership first, but if I had to pick one then I'd go with... the Giants. I'd love it to be us (Suns) though.
