So…if the defender’s hand is on the ball and Rankine (gently) kicks it out and through the goals, isn’t that a goal?

After all, the boot has to remove the ball from the hand, so the boot is the last contact.

Yep because we got * all free kicks, had a massive comeback from 27 points down and played and scored well enough to win, we were robbed by green maggots. Like they were paying high contact all game, and then Dawson getting smashed in the face isn't high contact???
It’s more to do with composure in tight situations. In tight we spilled it more than them. The fact that we were held more in contest is completely true but the flow on effect also changes.

I actually thought that was the rule, if contact is made at the same time then it's consider a kick but clearly not.

It was a goal.

Third umpire didn't have the balls to call it though.

Some on here stating the umpires don't matter. That's complete rubbish. Umpires influence games.
They do, but we made plenty of mistakes too. The worst thing the club can do is say "we would have won if it wasn't for the umpiring" and chalk it up to being screwed over.

They need to focus on what they can control. Umpiring is out of their hands, so all efforts must be made to fix the things they can fix. Rule should always be you put the game in a position the umpiring can't influence the game, that's the only attitude that should be taken.

An easy take for the goal umpire I would have thought to refer it. His call was the only one that counted.
