Thought Crouch, Rankine, Soligo, Michalanney and Hinge were all good. Burgess and Rachele pretty good in the first half, Walker and Fogarty were okay, McHenry was good as the sub. That's about it, the rest was pretty poor. Definitely the worst game I've seen Smith play, and Berry, Murphy and Jones were particularly bad as well.
Rachele is starting to worry me. He's definitely not living up to expectations. In particular, he's looked unbelievably weak in several situations, no effort in going for the ball or the man, weak tackles. He needs a heart transplant.

Surely this is all about the midfield? We have seemingly ignored bringing in any A grade talent in this area and M crouch clearly being our best mod is a disaster. (Nothing against Crouch he has been great since being back).

Who is a best young mid? I have zero confidence we have anyone on the list that could even be considered a future A grade afl mid.

Dawson had a stinker because he was the only player in our midfield worth putting any attention into, and guess who Chris Scott tagged...
Shouldn't be given that easy of an out. He is meant to be an elite player, he had 26 touches, kicked it 18 times but had no impact with it.

He's a far better player than what he's shown in his first two games this season.

Looking at his ability to run tonight, you’d have to say Tex will be lucky to play more than a dozen games this season. He looked old and rickety
Clearly his mind wasn't 100% there given the bad news.

He was trash but he was set up to fail

It's not all about the midfield. There seems to be a ground-wide lack of talent and skill. Even Tex looked as though he had forgotten everything he knew.

Good
ROB and Crouch
For a depth guy Burgess is holding his own

Ugly
One of the most dumb, stupid, moronic, head up their ass coaching performances I've seen from a coach. It wasn't just inept, but we willingly handicapped ourselves because of having blinders on and focusing on one single area of football.
Laird
Smith
Murphy
General skills are ****ing shocking.
Berry who fumbles everything
Dawson has been rendered ineffective by seemingly becoming a defensive mid who supports Crouch, Laird and Berry's inside work.

What the heck were they doing in the last. You have a fit team (if nothing else). You have players capable of playing fast football.

Just devoid of dare and confidence. Get that back please.

Murphy and Smith need to go. Laird cannot play full time mid if Crouch is there and at present Crouch is comfortably outperforming him.

Tex looked well short of fitness and touch, should be better next week. Fog was significantly better than last week, but will rue those missed chances.

A few changes.. just a few and things will improve quite rapidly.

Rumours were in abundance in 2022 that Nicks had an ultra defensive mindset. After the first two games this season, its impossible to argue this isn't the case. He just wants the club to maintain possession and play safe.

Our midfield was smashed last week all over the park, with Gold Coast's four mids the top 4 players on the ground.

So what does Nicks do?

He rolls out the exact same ******* midfield again
I said the same during the game.

Soligo was in fire early & most the inside mids struggling so could have swapped for Dawson.

Pedlar was putrid up forward so why not throw him on ball?

We have a coaching group devoid of imagination.

Whohoo another 3 years of this...

The main factors for this loss were
1. Coaching - let's just not put a player on Stewart at all, how hard is it to tell a bloke everywhere he goes you go.
2. Work rate - how many times did Geelong create the loose man over the top running forward.

I really am just starting to lose the passion to even watch the footy anymore, I went from being a member for over 10 years to now struggling to even watch a full game. This club makes it so hard we are so predictable how many of us just knew we would snap up Nicksy to an extension before seeing if we showed any improvement this year.

I don't want to rant and rave but the club is seriously a joke, the average supporter can see our problems but yet some how the people running the club can't? How long have we needed a quality midfielder or atleast a midfield group that has a different skillet like maybe someone with a bit of pace that isn't a no look handball panic merchant.

I thought the way we played in the last 10 minutes about 3-4 goals down was pathetic and cowardly

Someone call 5AA and unload, Rowey is as frustrated, pissed off and confused as we all are.
What's the point, it's not like Rowie will get any smarter about the situation....

I'm not sure Chris Scott even broke a sweat that match. That was like watching a grandmaster play an amatuer at chess. Just picked apart our "tactics" and had 90% of the match on their own terms.

There are a few of us on here who aren't surprised nor confused about our performances.

We are more surprised and confused as to why we re-signed Nicks when we did.
