Good ;

-Crouch again busted his arse all night
  • Soligo had great patches
  • Burgess showed he’s capable of filling a void

Bad ;
  • Midfield except Crouch
  • Murphy … again
  • Fwd 50 entries
  • No forward structure
  • Tom Stewart.. let’s just kick to him over and over and over
  • Rankine was abit too showpony/hollywood at times so the basics Izak we know you’re a gun

Ugly ;
- Smith … it’s time just go , Nankervis has to replace him

- Dawson … what was that ? Went full Madeline Mcann , nowhere to be see

I'll live with Pedlar having that game because he's 21 and played 28 games.

When a guy like Smith is dishing it up, that's when the coach should be swinging the axe.
You are correct about Smirh. He really wet the bed tonight. Two players free on your right , but no let’s go left on The Full WTF?

If anyone is watching Fox still Dal Santo and Mooney are literally laughing at us and said the first thing we could have done is told someone to go and stand next to Stewart lol
Pedlar was "assigned" that task instead of Keays who has done it very well previously on other important defenders.........

I don’t understand our forward structure
The Crows do not have one, so don't lose any sleep.
and I’m worried the coaching staff feel the same.
If Rahilly thought Nicks was going to be a Premiership Coach, he'd have stuck around, strong ties elsewhere (Geelong) notwithstanding.
Now, we have Burns, our ex-defence Coach, now-forwards Coach in 2024. What a joke!

The Foxfooty show is absolutely giving it to Nicks about letting Stewart dominate the match - everybody knows what he does, why did we allow him to do it so effectively, for the entire match?
It's like we tried Pedlar on him for 5 minutes, that didn't work so just abandoned the idea completely. Wasn't a hard move to stick Burgess on him or even Keays.

And zero plan for Tom Stewart AGAIN. Groundhog day
We actually had 2 plans thank you very much.

First we played a midget on him. Then when that didn't work we moved them off and let him roam free.

That forward line of ours is putrid. Fog doesn’t position well and Tex can’t be the goto man. Burgess was okay in stages, but doesn’t look a dominant forward. I don’t understand our forward structure and I’m worried the coaching staff feel the same. Our midfield looked second rate at best. Even if we won the ball, it was just poor decision or not disposing the ball to our advantage. Im struggling to find a good player tonight. If I had to pick one, I’d give it to ROB. At least he looked like he was trying hard.

Pathetic game. Another long year looms.
Rahilly is a much bigger loss than we'd all like to think.

Apologists could say, hang on, don't be so harsh, Geelong won a Flag 2 years ago and they've played together for a long time. Crows are a young side, try-hard, nice-bloke Coach etc etc
BUT
Geelong has a Coach with nous, strategy and a game plan and his team reflect and exact his vision for the side.

The Crows have, well, you-know who, re-signed for reasons I cannot fathom.
We all know what geelong do and how they want the game to be played. They had all week to plan a strategy to expand the game and make the ground big and then we get this. It literally could not have been easier for geelong as they had the entire game on their terms unchallenged

It was amateur hour ......and made a mockery of all the pre-season garble

"We were able to train with footballs, and hone our skills"

1. Well, there was only one side one grabbing the ball tonight
2. There was only one side that continued to slip over
3. There was only one side, whose players didn't keep spoiling and running into teammates
4. And there was only one side who moved the ball quicker than treakle
5. And there was only one side, whose head wasn't big enough to drink their own bath water ....and believe they were destined for Finals

AND IT WASN'T THE CROWS !

Crouch got 39 possessions, but back to his old ways ....slowing us down ...we are a worse midfield with him in it .....and either he or Laird has to go

Smith ....WOW, how bad can a player play

Berry ....or should I say fumbles Berry ....how many turnovers did he present to GEEL

Hinge ....forget the possession count ...he was caught in no-man's land defending time & time again .....another bath water drinker

ROB ....again not marking anything ....you simply cannot rely on his output

Fogarty ....another who clearly demonstrated his inability to focus on the game for 100 min

NICKS
In what world does any coach allow Tom Stewart to run around like an unregistered dog ....game losing move #1

In what world do you have your Captain tagging a 34 YO Danger ....he was never going to tear us a new one ....and we lost all drive from Dawson, our most direct MID ....game losing move #2

Congratulations on manning Stewart up in the last 10 min of the game .....just WOW !

There's no words to describe how bad that coaching performance was tonight
The only bit I disagree with is crouch. Only player we’ve had the last two weeks which is an absolute indictment on where we’re at.

2 plays (among many) that highlighted the difference between the 2 sides.
Hawkins' 2 goals in the third 1/4.
First goal:
Geelong player running forward from the wing. There's space for Hawkins to run into. He's in front of Butts, BUT FIRST he turns to him, pushes Butts away, KNOWING that all he has to do then is turn around and run to the ball that's gonna hit him on the chest.
How does he know?
They practice that.
They train that.
They drill that, until the bloke with the ball KNOWS what Hawkins is going to do, Hawkins knows what his mate will do and the rest of them KNOW to leave space for Hawkins to lead into.
Simple, beautiful, game-plan football and excellent forward execution.

Second goal (soon after):
Danger has the ball just forward of the wing. He doesn't blast away, as the Crows do; he LOOKS.
Hawkins is behind Butts this time, but there's enough room for Danger to kick deep, over Butts, for Hawkins to mark.
That's what he does.
That's what Hawkins does, then goals.
Again --- simple, beautiful, game-plan football and excellent execution. Good coaching, good play.

What happend.... last year we played such fast exciting footy....
On the rare occasions we went quick we looked good. Every other time, stop, prop, look lateral, look backwards, let Geelong set up, turnover. No one wanted to take it on.

Not beyond realms of us being 0-6

Freo in Perth 50:50 at best

Melb at AO - Oliver and Petracca against us … shudder

Carlton - away - loss

Essendon - a bogey team

That’s squeaky bum time for Nicks regardless of his shiny new contract

Laird was average tonight, so was Dawson, the captain title isn't doing him any favours.

Smith was diabolical, Nankervis much better option.

Forward line entries were horrendous

BUT overall we are timid, no roll up the sleeve, see ball and get ball attitude outside of Crouch and Soligo.

Bring on SAnFL

I'm really concerned about Burns as our forward coach.

He took over the most efficient highest scoring forward line...
