Almost every one is from a mark. It doesn’t turn it into 100% success. It actually lessens the chance, it’s another disposal that could go wrong plus Keays slipping at the wrong time which he nearly did on the weekend. The coaches should really be pulling them all up over doing it.
I don't think it lessens the chance. We've seen people miss goals from inside 20 metres this year. Fogarty missed an absolute sitter running in, McHenry missed from 10 metres out on an angle etc. Have we stuffed up a goal because someone tried to pass to Keays in the goalsquare? I can't personally think of one - possible it's happened. But either way I think Keays' entire brand as a forward is using his running ability to get up and back and make space to get those easy goals, so it would be crazy for him to not call for the ball when he's in the goalsquare and someone has it 20 out. It's like complaining about Walker or Rankine calling for the ball on a lead, it's their role in the team.

I've also seen him give away those goals in the same way, I think he gave one to Walker in the last couple of weeks, which would be an odd thing to do for the most selfish player in the league.

Keays makes some dumb mistakes at times no question but I don't think him calling for the ball is because he's selfish.

I just think there are times that Keays doesn't play the percentages and goes for harder shots/attempts beyond his capabilities when better options are around

That is what gives the 'selfish' vibe

Maybe it's just lack of awareness
I think he just really loves a goal. He's like Rachele without the skills.

I kinda felt like they were booing the umpiring decisions that occurred in the leadup to the goal? Maybe I'm giving them too much credit.
There were a few morons that kept it up for a short time.

I think calling Keays selfish is a bit of a stretch.

He works very hard off the ball to make himself 'on' for those kicks.

He has many brain fades a game, lacks the basic kicking skills (although that set shot goal was nice), among other things but I don't feel calling Keays selfish, let alone "the most selfish in the AFL" is correct.

He continuously has shots beyond his kicking capacity when he has team mates on. We're like one week removed from him costing us the lead by doing it.

That he runs hard to receive in the goal square is super and all, but if he was the player with the ball the receiver would starve.

Good:
  • a really resounding win
  • Rankine didn't get injured
  • a captain who can play "follow me" footy
  • Fog is lifting
Bad:
  • siren went 3 seconds too soon ;)
Ugly:
  • fans not happy with a 99 point win
  • commentators wetting themselves every time Pick One touches the ball, even on a quiet day

Haha the pessimists (are we calling them the cartel now?) will be calling their therapists flat out this week. It will be hard for them to cope so all the optimists please be nice. You can see some of the coping efforts already in this thread.

PS It was a nice win but I don't think any of us "happy clappers" will be going out and putting 10G on us for the premiership.
This aged well.

Maybe you should write another 1500 word salad about absolutely nothing?
