Good luck David Teague & Thank You

Thank you for many years of service to our club as a Best and Fairest winning player, an assistant coach and finally as senior coach. We all wish it would've ended up a more successful journey, and I don't think a single supporter would wish you anything less than the best of luck in the future.

Thanks again and good luck.

Sorry for all of us that things didn't work out - wish you'd been able to steer us to finals as another favourite son returned to the fold, and wish even more that you could have led us to number 17, but it wasn't to be.

Look forward to watching you continue your career elsewhere as I believe you're a great assistant who in time might get another crack just like Ratts.

All the best Teaguey.

All the very best to David Teague. Nothing is perfect in life and this didn’t work out like we had hoped but David will get a gig in football and be better for it. Good luck, David!

All the best David- treated very poorly- unfortunately the club has had a bit of history of this in its efforts to get to the top of the tree- always a quick fix- little patience. Whose next on the chopping block- maybe unfair but that’s just a reflection of our history.

It's official.

Members Email (have edited the email to only include Teague & not the entire review) ...

[TD valign="top"]Dear Aph,

I can confirm that the Club has today finalised the key outcomes of an independent football department review.

As part of this process, external panel members Geoff Walsh, Graham Lowe and Matthew Pavlich last week delivered a final report to myself, the Club’s Board of Directors, and CEO Cain Liddle, which was shared with leaders of the football department this week.

Following this consultation process, the Club was able to complete its thorough and extensive review process that has been underpinned by one objective – the improvement of the Club’s on-field performance to take the football department forward.

We are now able to confirm that after taking sufficient time to process the information from the review, the decision has been made to part ways with Senior Coach David Teague , while assistant coach Dale Amos has also been informed he will not be offered a new contract.

there is little to no ill well directed at Teague who simply couldn't deliver but more likely because he just wasn't the right man for the job. at the least i don't believe he's taken the club that far backwards. good luck and all the best DT.

Not just Blues fans.

Big thank you to David Teague. It was clear that it was time to move on, and yet, this has been handled incredibly poorly by the club and board and I'm sorry for that.

I wish him nothiing but success in the future. Footy is a tough business, and he ran into the worst of luck at Carlton; a series of key injuries that meant his game plan had to be constantly adapting, Covid and it's impacts on training and development. You can't help but thinking that had the luck gone differently things might have worked a lot better for him, but here we are.

Thanks for the memories Teaguey. You did your best and it's just unfortunate that you're not quite there yet as a senior coach. Good luck in the future. I'm sure you'll get there ultimately with more experience coaching.

TheTeagueTrain is eternal!

Just dropped by to say that I think this is an extraordinary decision. His winning % is second only to Ratten's and he's been moved on? This seems very hasty. Also, could the CFC have humiliated him any further?

Good luck with Ross Lyon.

Well done Teaguey.

Just wish this incompetent administration set you up for success.

Hope you go on to prove them all wrong! When it comes to this footy club, the grass is always greener. Good luck!

Good luck with Ross Lyon.

By making him adhere to the same set of circumstances all members of staff had to deal with?

His winning percentage in 2019 was 55%, 2020 was 47%, 2021 was 36% - pretty clear why he was sacked.

Appreciate your pointless contribution.

Bit of a pity about Teague.

He always came across as a geniuenally nice guy in the press conferences, etc.

I also like the fact that he tried to play an attacking brand of footy which looked really good (when it worked).

I am curious as to whether he had lost the playing group in any way, 2 years is such a short amount of time to give a coach.

Apologies for intruding here on your board.

The way I see it it's just not good for the game when clubs are vulnerable and bleeding from the top. Like them or hate them.
For example I hate Bombers with passion as a Hawks man but even more so because of the peds saga.
But I'm actually glad to see them make finals with a totally different team and different club admin. Means that
there will be more members, more cash, more sponsors and better future for the club in general. It's just good for the game.
Hence why I want Gold Coast to succeed in some way regardless of them being fairly new club.

Don't particularly like Blues or Pies either but it's just bad for the game if 2 of the big 4 are in dire straits.
Hope to see them in better days moving forward.

Not sure if other non-Blues fans see it the same way.
Not having a crack at you personally, necessarily. Just, it's awfully interesting how some figures from or within Carlton are portrayed as victims of Carlton where others are the villains, whose exit elicits sympathy where others are considered to be well rid of.

For me, the whole thing is interesting if only due to all the external reaction based on nothing more than media opinion. Makes me wonder how many people outsource their thinking in other parts of their lives.

Shit time for any young coach to take on a developing list, and then cop injuries on top.

I’m sure he’ll do better as an assistant somewhere else. Quality person, and his name will always be up on the honour board.
