At last we have some relief. In the paper this morning, it is reported that Smorgon, at last night's prematch dinner, announced that we are to announce our new major sponsor in the next few days.

When asked whether Virgin was one of the possible sponsors, Smorgon declined to comment.

About bloody time is all I can say. All we need now is a win, and I'll be smiling again!!!!!!!

GO DOGGIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We have also secured a second tier sponsorship in Burbank homes. It was said that 5 or 6 companies contacted us over the major sponsorship during the week because of all the controversy.Hopefully we can get the ones that miss out on the major sponsorship in as game sponsors or second tier sponsors. The cash certainly looks to be flowing now.:)

It must. When playing football is your livelihood, and your employers financial situation is such that the honouring of your contract is not a foregone conclusion, then the impact may very well be similar to any other employee that finds themself in a situation where they have a huge exposure to the financial wellbeing of a struggling employer. i.e You would worry.

I know it's slightly off topic, but I have long held the view that this will be the area that leads to the challenging of the draft rules in the courts. Unless the AFL wants to guarantee the contracts of the players, then I suspect that one day a player manager will convince one of his clients to challenge the legality of being drafted by a club that cannot guarantee his payment. And I can't see how the AFL could defend it.

But on the original topic, it's great news that there may be some dollars coming in.
