One thing Brisbane have done a lot better than Melbourne is the river precincts, Brisbane's Southbank leaves Melbourne's for dead, all theirs is is a path beside the river and a glum looking casino. We also did the river surrounds a lot better re bike/walk ways aesthetics of it and the general clean feel, bigger prettier parks and gardens in Brisbane also... the Yarra was particularly dirty as well.

Love visiting Melbourne for footy getaways, restaurant choices are great but would never live there.

Brisbane is a town planning distaste. Focal point on the bend of a river

Messed up by not playing Gunston - you can't buy triple premiership poise in clutch moments - well you actually did and didn't play him?!?

Kiddy Coleman is a champ, second best on ground.

Thank you. Vindicated.

The scary thing is how this shapes our boys moving forward. They could be mentally beaten and start the season next year very slowly. Or they could come out firing and burn out early. A very challenging off season for the club imo
My hope is that Fagan remembers 2011 & 2012 from his Hawthorn days. 2011 they lost a Prelim by 3 points and then in 2012 they lost a Grand Final by 10 points.

Talk about testing a teams resilience but the Hawks stayed focused and got their rewards in 13/14/15. My hope is we are on a similar path (Maybe without needing to win 3 in a row). Our team ethos under Fagan has always been about learnings, I felt we learned a lot this year about what our group can accomplish if we put the work in. It gives us the best blueprint for 2024 that we CAN achieve the ultimate success.

It would also be very fitting to avenge 2004, 20 years on.

Good chance Dodongo thinks against Port Adelaide

Each of our finals campaigns have been better with each year since 2019 with the exception being 2021 when we were crueled with injuries.

  • 2019 lost both our qualifying & semi finals *2 losses
  • 2020 won our qualifying final, lost the prelim * 1 win 1 loss
  • 2021 lost qualifying final and semi final * 2 losses
  • 2022 won the elimination and semi final, lost the prelim *2 wins *1 loss
  • 2023 won both our qualifying final and prelim, lost the grand final *2 wins *1 loss
If this trend continues and we're back in contention next year with a healthy list.

Lions will win the flag in 2024 🦁🏆🥇

A pies fan told me that they wanted to strangle me with my lions scarf. Granted, she was about 45-50 and not very threatening and we had a laugh about it.

Had a couple of younger blokes behind me who spent a lot of time complaining about umpires and calling Zorko all sorts of names. I considered engaging in a dialogue with them about who is the worst person out on the field but thought better of it.

Pies fan base is so large it is going to contain more d1ckheads than others. They just happen to be pretty vocal on social media (and in the traditional media).
We had a Lions supporter behind us stick around for the medal/trophy presentations at the end seemingly with the sole intention of unleashing a tirade of homophobic slurs at the Collingwood players. Suffice to say he shut up after copping some abuse himself. But disappointing nonetheless.

Yeah had someone near us that was at his first game, had to explain a few things. Rugby fan from QLD that has flown to Sydney today for the NRL grand final.

Crazy to think of those who couldn’t get tickets, and then these people rock up to that grand final for their first game!

I’ve had some online courses I’ve been intending to do for quite some time and haven’t gotten around to as I’d rather watch the footy. At least I know I now have 6 months to get them done!

We might have prioritised taking pole position if there had been a real value in it like that...

We were pushing hard for second place all season and only locked it in after beating the saints. It wasn’t like we locked in second place and then after that put the cue in the rack because first was worth nothing.

If anything, first place not being special is what made Collingwood rest players against us in round 23.

Sorry if I’ve misunderstood you. But I maintain that it’s a weird year to talk about home ground advantage in the grand final.

To be super controversial here - we are no worse off than some of the Marvel tenants in terms of actual playing experience at the MCG and have the benefit of genuine home ground advantage at the Gabba. Yeah, if we played St Kilda in a grand final at the MCG they'd have more fans and benefit that way.

Commercial considerations have locked in the grand final at the MCG until the middle of this century, nothing can be done about it and there's nothing productive about complaining about it. Yes it is an advantage, particularly for MCG tenants, but as you say this year it wouldn't have mattered anyway if there was a floating grand final venue.

This is true in many ways, my mates a dogs supporter and they only get 2 games at the mcg a year as well, which is crazy. The only factor is they don’t also have to travel interstate.

The AFL should make sure that all clubs have enough games at the mcg each season to allow for enough experience and exposure to the ground for all clubs. Possibly 4 games a year somehow

I think it's a factor not because we 'can't play the ground' or whatever else, but because we don't get the experience there in front of big crowds. A hot day exacerbated the situation with the shorter break and the travel, the Brownlow surprise ,lots of little things that just had us a bit out of whack on the big day.

That's where its always going to be played . A night GF is inevitable at some point and this is the year I wished it was a night GF. We play better at night , our cough ups are generally day games.

If the kultcha is right traveling interstate can be a big positive for relationship building.

There is only one Collingwood player that deserves that

I'm not so sure it does....so few of them played to their full potential today and we know that when they do they are unstoppable. Get Ashcroft back will be a difference too....

I agree about Zorko though.
Ashcroft doesn’t have the mongrel that we need in the midfield. We are missing a psycho with skills like Voss.

Did you see that article news.com.au put up last night with all the emotional photos of Brisbane players? Genuinely made me uncomfortable. Why would they publish that?
