2024 Toyota AFL Finals Series drawn match (playing of Additional Time)

As a reminder to media, the AFL wishes to advise the process for playing of additional time if scores are even following a match in the 2024 Toyota AFL Finals Series.

The following procedure shall apply in the event of a draw at the end of ordinary time:
  • Six-minute break.
  • Additional Time period of two x three-minute halves (plus time on) will be played as required, until a result is determined.

PROCESS:

1. Goal umpires confirm scores are identical;
2. There is a six-minute break;
3. Teams change ends;
4. Three minutes of Additional Time shall be played, plus time-on;
5. At the end of the first Additional Time period, the siren will sound and teams will immediately change ends without a break;
6. The ball will be bounced (or thrown up) in the centre and a further three minutes of play (plus time-on) will commence;
7. At the conclusion of this period, the siren will sound and the team with the highest score is declared the winner;
8. If scores are still tied, steps three to eight are repeated until a result is determined.

The following shall also apply for Additional Time periods:

Interchange cap

Clubs shall receive 10 interchanges for the total two x three-minute period Additional Time (excluding the activation of the Substitute). Any leftover interchanges from the total period of Additional Time do not carry over into a subsequent period.

Please note that the 10 interchanges includes any interchanges when the players immediately change ends at the end of the first Additional Time Period.

Runners

Runners may access the playing arena after a goal or a significant stoppage in play (eg. a stretcher is called).

Runners are also permitted to access the playing arena at the conclusion of each three-minute (plus time-on) period of Additional Time as players are changing ends.

⚽ Show off your goal-kicking skills at the rebel goal-kicking challenge and win cool prizes, or take part in NAB AFL Auskick clinics with your favorite footy heroes.

🎵 The Pub is back! Hosted by Carlton Draught, this 18+ area will be packed with trivia, live music, and a watch party for the Grand Final on the big day.

Don’t miss your chance to meet AFL and AFLW players for autographs and selfies, and even catch a glimpse of the 2024 Toyota AFL Premiership Cup at various events!

The Footy Festival will be open from 10am (Wednesday-Friday) and from 8am on Saturday for the 2024 Toyota AFL Grand Final, with big screens broadcasting the match live, thanks to Channel 7.

2024 Toyota AFL Premiership Cup Tour arrives in Western Australia

The 2024 AFL Premiership Cup has officially arrived in the West as finals fever grips the country.

West Coast Eagles Premiership player and 2024 Toyota AFL Premiership Cup Ambassador, Josh Kennedy surprised some of the game's smallest fans at Glengarry Primary School as day one of the 2024 Toyota AFL Premiership Cup Tour officially commenced.

The Cup will visit a host of schools, iconic locations, Toyota dealerships and local football clubs as part of its stay in Western Australia, including East Perth Football Club, Claremont Football Club and Moora Toyota.

The Cup will then head to the Top End where it will visit Alice Springs, Darwin and Katherine before travelling to Queensland and New South Wales across the next three weeks, before heading to the MCG for the 2024 Toyota AFL Grand Final.
